Specialized makes a good product. The picture was removed, too bad nobody copied it. Everybody's missing the symbolic gesture of Lukas being in a Specialized jersey. Two things. Or at rumor clues. Can you say European bicycle stage racing? Omega Pharma-Quick Step uses Specialized bikes. Levi Leipheimer, rides for the above team would make a great mentor to LV. Admit it the LV has his cards on the table. |

[/quote] Dude, we know what he did, but we don't know all the circumstances. Maybe his team was full of a$$holes. Maybe he and the coach didn't get along. Maybe the team was all full of guys like you who said he had a petit pu$$y. He was only responsible for himself. He did the right thing for himself. It isn't his job to make his team happy or his coach happy. It is noone's responsibility to make anyone else happy. If you look at it, I think that people that are most pissed off, or maybe the only ones that are pissed off are the ones on a college team where you feel this special bond with your teammates. That's like being in a fraternity, and that is just plain old dumb. |

"Can you say European bicycle stage racing?" My wife and I are huge fans of European pro cycling. I don't know if LV has any interest, but I'll tell you this: life as a pro triathlete will be glamorous compared to that of a pro cyclist. Be prepared to suffer and enjoy it. Yes, elite pro cyclists can make big money, and the best supporting riders make $400-$500k per year, but it's a grind +1. You really have to WANT to be a pro cyclist, or you'll never withstand the schedule and severity of it. There is no glamour and no substitute for riding 5-7 hours per day, on all terrain, going 20-30 mph with team. It never ends. I don't think LV has displayed any unique skills on a bike. Drafting in a group in a triathlon is nothing that hundreds of fast amateurs can't do any day. Plus you need a lot of cycling "infrastructure" in your body before you really can ride at a pro-level (meaning you need to be ride 100-150 miles fast like it's a walk in the park). Anyway, I'm intrigued by the idea, but I don't think, IMO, LV is up to the lifestyle required to be a successful pro cyclist. |

Cycling is meaningless in the US. Unless it's BMX, which get's the X Games, ESPN hype once a year. If you're not Lance Armstrong in road racing, nobody cares, because there is no interaction, no identity (you're in a pack, helmet on, sunglasses on, same lycra suits, same bikes). Nobody cares about triathlon, at all. Even though they show the Ironman every year on tv, basically it's a sappy show that concentrates more on sob stories than the elites. With running, although the sponsorship money isn't as deep, he could have been a legend, been paid fairly well, and shown on tv at least a few times of year, with a huge build up for Worlds and the Olympics. He would have been promoted as the savior of distance runnning in America. |

Oh yeah! I forgot about the hugh fan base and media attention runners get. Imagine having your name thrown around with the likes of celebrities like - Clooney, Pitt, Jeter, Kobe, Peyton, Rupp. |

His Wikipedia says that he's 19. Where is this 22 year old/overage stuff coming from? |
| Seyta |

It's coming from a crowd of bitter buffoons who could, not once in their careers, even hope to achieve his times. Consequently, they accuse him of being 22 as an attempt to demean and discredit his accomplishments. |

Question: What has he done in the five months since leaving Oregon? Answer: Not a damn thing! |
| Seyta |

Yes, because the Triathlon Circuit has a race EVERY week doesn't it? He's dealing with professionals now, and the system doesn't function in a manner that would have him racing in and out every other week. In fact, you can just take a look at the profiles of the rest of the athletes at the Olympic Training Facility at Colorado Springs. NONE of them have done anything substantial. And why is that? Because they're all JUST out of high school and need to TRAIN before they actually begin racing. In all seriousness, do you even KNOW how buffoonish your comment sounds right now? Why isn't Verzbicas racing in Triathlons FIVE MONTHS after he began TRAINING for the Triathlon again? Well gee, I don't know. He had an early race just a few months ago and left with a knee injury during the final leg. Perhaps that was a cue telling him that it's NOT a good idea to charge back into competition before he's built his base back up? |

I checked, there isn't one... that site blows, fyi... LV is a coward, I bet when he tries to return to running he won't be able to compete on the national level, US runners are getting too good now... obvious, that assumes US lets him be a citizen, which for Oregon's sake I hope they really take a long hard look at what he did... total opportunist, and would turn on the US in a second if it was better for his career I saw make him ride his bicycle for Lithuania... |

Pretty sure everyone here is just jealous that they can try all their lives to run sub 4 for the mile and it would never happen, but Lukas did it and he doesn't even care that much about running. He doesn't owe anyone anything and you can cry all you want but he's not listening |

Nice name. My guess is you are bi. You must be a disgruntled teammate of LV and Joe Mama must be the head coach at Oregon. If this isn' t the case, they should shut up because his teammats and coach were the only ones affected by his leaving and if they aren't on here bitching, no one else the right to. |

It's a process of elimination: If you can't hang in the 1500, move up to the 5000; if you can't hang in the 15 or 5, and you ain't a distance guy, try the steeple; if you are too mentally weak to hang in running, try the tri. |
