I'm not sure if the comment of the day is meant to somehow invoke pity from the reader, but I am ambivalent. Professional athletes by their job description aren't a necessity in society and post-collegiate running just isn't that popular. He knew that going into being a pro runner. At least there is a market for other professional sports to make it a worthwhile venture. All the great runners of the 50-60s were holding down full time jobs or schoolwork while producing good times on cinder tracks with far less training knowledge and access to technology than we have now. If you want it that bad, you'll find a way.

I bet he has a good sense of achievement and well being and sense of peace. If he doesn't do anything else with his running, he has accomplished more than most. Nothing can take that away from him.

can we concentrate on the topic and not grammar mistakes? He's right though. there are a lot of people out there playing real sports and working real jobs, not trying to be the best at exercising.

I know you'd love to believe that it doesn't matter, but it does.

Jason Hartmann was 4th at 2012 Boston. You are still ambivalent and posting troll threads. I'd say Jason has a lot more going on than you ever will.

I don't think Hartman was asking for pity. I think it was a factual statement about what it's like for a lower tier professional runner who has a hard time supporting himself from running.

Sports that use balls are not sports they are games.

T&F and combat are true sports pitting man against man and nothing else.

My favorite part was when he acknowledge saying "retard" might be offensive, so instead said "r-tard".

running in circles doesn't qualify as sport and I think there is a lot of man vs man in football.

Wow OP, what a groundbreaking opinion. Everybody else is staring at the floor while softly weeping over the state of Jason Hartman's athletic support.
