Predict my 800 time from a 10x200 @ 25s workout! 4/24/2012 10:44AM Reply | Return to Index | Report Post
Did 10x2 w/ 90s rest (200 jog) today. Times were: 25.1, 26.2, 25.8, 26.0, 25.5, 25.2, 25.4, 25.6, 25.3, 25.5. Ran the workout solo, w/ standing starts and in spikes.

What can I run in an 8? Thanks!

Much faster than 1:49... should be around 1:47 in my opinion. That is a very difficult workout if those times are accurate.

Again, thanks for the input. Yes, the times are actually both "accurate" and "true". I was looking to have a good workout today. I just wanted to know what people thought.

A better workout is 1x800m @ 800m pace. This should be pretty close to race pace.

Trolling feels nice.

Valid point, Craig. I am just trying to find the right races. Once again, just wanted to know what people thought of the workout.

I think the point people are trying to make (typical LR BS anyway) is that you need a race or time-trial to determine the intensity of your workouts. Trolls who post workouts and ask what they are worth really don't get it (or need a coach badly), and really show (even if they are talented) who stupid they are - as it doesn't work that way. We have all seen (or even coached) "workout" runners who can't race worth sh*t, but do great workouts.

I appreciate your input. I am certainly no troll and am not "stupid," as you stated. Coaches are not that easy to come by, and I also certainly do have an idea of where I am. It is just nice to see what others equate time-wise for a workout based on their past experiences and go from there.

Sure....

I was never close to being able to do that workout when I ran 1.51 while running 48.8 and being extremely slow on 1500.

At this point in the season, I am actually not too interested in finding a coach. Thanks for asking.

Any other thoughts?

As stated...out in 53...and bring it home! See sub 1.50 thread in the archives. Great advice and suggestions from Holman/oldsub4.

Hmmmmm.....53 is not exactly the fastest to take out an 800. What kind of second lap should I be trying to bring home?

It's not clear what your aerobic strength is from any of this.
The best in the world can do 8x200 with much less rest than 90 seconds.
So work on shorter rests or longer intervals. 4x400 in 52 (90 sec. rest) since you seem to feel 53 is not fast enough.
or 8 x 200 with a 100 meter (45 second) jog.
