After a slow pace (4:58 through the 1600, 9:57 through 3200), Molly Huddle kicks to the win with D'Agostino third and first collegiate, nipping Van Dalen and Reid. With a faster pace, all three collegians could have gotten the Olympic A Standard of 15:20. Of note: Sheila Reid loses to collegians. Abbey D'Agostino is the real deal. A year ago her PR was 16:23 and she went on to run 15:40 in June. Now she's run 15:23 off a big negative split and its only April. |

I missed the first part of the race, but I thought Jenny Simpson was supposed to be in it. Anyone know what happened? |

She was supposed to run but didn't. |

Abbey Dags is no joke - 15:23 in April for a college sophomore is phenomenal. She is now in the running for the olympic team, esp if Fleshman is still hurt. amazing. |

Not bad for Sheila Reid's fourth career 5000 coming off of no indoor season. |

All the American women down to and including Sisson get the "A" Trials standard (15:35), and Huddle, if she needed it, now has the "A" Olympic standard (15:20), with Abbey D. 3 seconds and change off of it.

They went out in 81 too. Looked like kind of a sh$tty race, way too many women. |

By crappy I only mean one girl went down and there was tons of pushing etc. The actual quality of the race was fantastic and the women got after it. |

Yeah Jenny Simpson was suppose to run. And according to Flotraack announcing she was in the race until about 11 minutes in when they realized, hey wait a minute I don't think she is here." I think at minimum we should be able to count on from announcers is an updated list. I mean it would be one thing if she pulled out at the last minute but she isnn't even in Callfornia. Jenny doesn't like to race much. I think it was a mistake that she didn't come to mix it up. |

Who did the filming of this race? I was looking forward to seeing the finish, and all it did was to focus on Huddle, and didn't even show anyone else the last lap! |

That was a great race, regardless of the focus on Huddle's last 400. A question about D'Agostino...specific to her high school (or lack there of) success. Does any one have any first or second hand knowledge of her story? I know her best mile time was 5:00 minutes, and she was a competitive swimmer. Anything else? Her success the last couple of years speaks volumes for focused training and mileage and is an inspiration for those whose high school careers have been less than notable. Thanks |
