Might be moving from DC to NY. If I do, Manhattan would probably be out of my budget. I don't know much about NY but from what I understand, rents in Brooklyn is alot cheaper than Manhattan and is reasonably safe to live in. Can someone give me an idea of what Brooklyn is like from a DC perspective? Is it like the Columbia Heights/NE area? Aside from doing loops around Prospect Park, are there any trails to run on? |

Definitely possible. Queens may be cheaper than Bklyn at this point and some great neighborhoods( Long Island City, Sunnyside, Woodside) Bklyn is different from anything DC has. Just hard to explain. Way more dynamic, diverse. Only problem is the Hipsters |

There is no comparison. Brooklyn alone has 2 million people, over three times the population of DC. |

By comparison to DC, I meant in terms of crime, density, walkability, etc.. I was just checking out some random spots in Brookyln using google street view and it looks similar to some U St corridor and some spots in NE DC. It didn't look very runner friendly..lots of signaled intersections and short blocks.. Nothing like rock creek parkway or even some of the residential areas in NW DC where you can just run through the intersections without really worrying about cars. It seems that every intersection in BK is signaled. Prospect park doesn't look very big and I think doing 3 mile loops around it would get boring quickly. |
