dial up internet, manual pencil sharpener, power pencil sharpener, typewriter, electronic typewriter/word processor, white out, phone/address book in notebook. I'm just going through the things I see in my dad's office (minus dial-up) who's a business owner.

You win! I used a wall-mounted, hand-crank manual pencil sharpener. I don't think I've used one in at least 15 years.

Ah those are so satisfying to use. I remember in elementary school everytime I sharpened a pencil I felt an immense feeling of satisfaction.
can't both be true

So you used one today and you haven't used one in at least 15 years? These statements cannot both be true. I'm starting to doubt your whole story.

I remember the teacher pet who would always empty the pencil sharpener whenever it was full. Also, before every test 1/2 the class had to go up & sharpen their pencil, delaying the test at least 10 minutes. Then they'd sit back down & due to sharpening their pencil to a needle point, the tip would break at first contact with the paper & they'd have to go back up to resharpen their lead. Thank God for mechanical pencils.

A hand cranked pencil sharpener is an old-school device. Would the expression "old-school device" be a double entendre in this this case?

I mounted a Chicago brand hand crank under a shelf in my pantry closet when I moved in. I had a case of 3B logo pencils from a saloon that we rebranded and used pencil for all my around the house stuff. Still use pencils daily.

Writing with a good pencil is satisfying. The new pencils are shit though, the lead is soft and breaks when you're sharpening them. Made in China.
