Yes, they are doing full auto times at 1500m as well.

Unless Webb runs 3:54, or there is an official time at 1500m (which I doubt there will be), Webb wouldn't qualify for the Olympic trials after this race as they only use one Mile "A" standard for the trials and not a "B" standard while for the 1500m there is an A and B. So if Webb is in 3:54 shape great, but otherwise he would have to do another race after this to qualify for the trials. Don't mean to be pessimistic, but he's probably not in 3:54 shape.

Prove me wrong Webb

I think there will be a camera at 1500. I read it on some Puma mile promotional site.[/quote]

Not sure if webb is still running but I know for the Puma mile they are having a FAT system set up to get the 1500 time for the people still needing the A standard

yes, because ritz ran 13:40 and then 12:56 in the same year in 2009.

as for webb? I didn't rule him out, but he still is 13 seconds off. I wouldn't be surprised to see him run 3:39/40 equiv at mt sac and get down to 3:35 to 3:36 by the trials. If he has 10 sec in him by trials, he's a contender; if he has 13 sec in him by the olympics, he's a contender there.

Precisely, which is why I think 13:30 should be cake for him here if he isn't already injured, unless Salazar is bringing him along slowly. That 28:21 was really an indication of not much, other than he could rip off consistent 66s for the second half of the race (27:30 pace).

That's because there is not a single athlete named "Steven Pfeiffer" in the world.

Kind of funny that Jenny B.S and Anna Willard Pierce always end up in the same event. No matter how hard Anna tries to avoid her!
Jenny will smoke everyone in 5k I predict. She is always the class of the women's field (as far as running talent goes). Sometimes her puffed-up self-analysis in interviews not so much.
Jenny?

Are you sure that is correct? The window for the Trials didn't start until May 1, 2011 so his 3:37 on 3/3/11 doesn't count for the Trials. Is the window for the Oly standards that much bigger?

BUMP. curious to find out if they are indeed going to DNS.

Also.
To all you Ritz predictors who are saying he can't break 13:40. LOL at you. He closed his last facking 5k in 13:45 2 weeks ago.

Ritz and Webb have been injured at least 35% of the time during their career. Ritz probably baked himself running at the Marathon trials. Why would a sub 13 5k runner waste his time with the Marathon. Then these runner complain about injuries. Right when Ritz broke 13 for the 5000 meters he should of stuck with that race. He is living in a fools paradise if he thinks he can run with the world's best marathoners.

Totally agree, but that sub-13:00 came off of marathon training primarily (and a synthetic altitude house). In London, prior to that spectacular track season, Ritz went out for his first 5k in 14:37. Complete stupidity for a guy who has never been able to tough out the last 10k of a marathon. He probably had a 2:08 in him in London with smarter pacing. He probably would've made the 2012 team with smarter pacing. Nonetheless, I think the guy needs to train like a marathoner, then sharpen relatively quickly, as that's what seemed to work for him during his best season ever and kept him injury free. My biggest worry has been that he'll try to keep up with Rupp and Farah too early and wind up injured. Perhaps that's already happened?

Do we know for sure that Ritz is not running at Mt. Sac tomorrow? In any other real sport there would be a press release.

Well he's not on the start list so I assume he is not running. He tweeted on 4/13 that he had a great workout and was looking forward to Mt. Sac so something must have happened....either injury or illness I would suspect.
