Looking at my thermometer, it is 77 in the shade.
women at 25k: 2:34 pace
This race should get real interesting after the Newton downhill. I can't imagine how hot it will feel for the last 5k.

Hell no, put time in the BANK! Going out like a sissy at 2:14 pace is idiotic if you want a breakthrough, you're going to fade in a marathon, that's the nature of the event, give yourself some serious cushion baby and have some GUTS! I understand most people on here are nutless and can't fathom actually making themselves hurt but true champions like Mr. Randall are prepared for that pain.
Your schtick is not funny. Please go away, we are trying to enjoy the marathon.
Kisorio has surged!!! Men's race has begun some 1:14 into the race. Let it rip boys!!!!
randall at half: 2:23 pace
Always good to see Steve Mucchetti back posting on LR.

This is why no matter what Rojo proposes and what networks/sites do to 'fix' the problem, no one will watch a marathon for 2 hours plus except us nuts.
Right, which is why noone watches 3+ hr baseball playoff games, or 3 hr NFL games. And also why the sidelines of the race are packed with spectators for hours during the race.
Let's not even try to build up a fan base.
The men crawled through the 1st half
1:06:08.
Each 5k was slower than the one before it
These are the 5k splits of the main pack through 20k:
15:19
15:31
15:47
15:53
The women meanwhile are going faster almost each 5k:
Women's 5ks
18:50
18:24
18:01
18:11
17:36
Norwood is probably most representative of temps in Newton right now.

I was just checking on her on athlete tracker and she hasn't posted a 25K time yet. I'm hoping it's just a software glitch or something. She was running steady 6:13 pace up til the half.
Anyone know?

Not much has been said, but the dew point is modest, in the low 50s in most of the listed weather reports. That is non-trivial; many of the bad hot races had much higher dew points.
Nice move water girls!
Did those water station people go rogue and charge into the women's lead pack? What happened there?
so how many people will run the last 10k of Boston faster than Ritz' 10,000 on the track?
What about Arciniaga? Is he still in it or what? No 25K split for him.
In case you're not watching the coverage 2 girls tried to walk out onto the course and hangle water to the leaders. It was a disaster. The pack of 5 had to move to get out of the way of the girls and there was contact. One runner dropped off but the 5 are now back together. A total disaster.
It didn't appear they were official volunteers

Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
