Do NOT feed the wild animals! They\'ll become dependent on you, and eventually someone will get hurt. |

Second Marathon, 2:37. First Marathon 2:20. If he drops another 17 minutes next time, he'll still be faster than 99 percent of the knobs posting here. Way to go for the gusto. You never know unless you try. |

My legs instantly filled with lactic acid when I read this. His last 10 miles must have been torture. |

Good smart run by Hartman. Congrats to Wesley Korir.
Wasn't Korir working as a janitor or maintenance staff and caught a ride to Chicago or some other marathon close to Louisville. Had enough cash for 2 subway subs, gave one to a homeless man and went off and got like 2nd or 3rd? Either way congrats to him on a solid victory.
Respectfully, this is wrong. Wesley was an uninvited athlete to his 1st Chicago marathon. Had to start with citizens wave. Worked his way up to 4th overall. His chip time would have won that Chicago marathon, but results & money were based on GUN time.
What was wrong about his post? The only part I think might be wrong was that is wasn't a subway sub he shared with a homeless guy. I believe it was a brown bag sandwich he had brought with him. Can't remember all the details. Nevertheless, a good story of a guy making it to the big leagues in an unconventional way. |

That is NOT the way to go for the gusto. You want to know how you go for the gusto? See Hartmann. He ran a SMART race and finished 4th. Trying to lead a pack of Kenyans on a hot day shows you have no intention whatsoever of having a decent finish. At least he can say he led the race. Good for him. |

can we finally shut up about this randall character? the only possibilities are: A) powerbar wrote him a huge check to spend as much time in front of the cameras as possible, getting good photo ops (which has happened in several boston marathons in the past 5 years) or B) this wasnt a pay day and he's actually just as much of a tool as it seems. either way, lets drop it and not give people like this any more attention. i feel gross just mentioning it. |

why does this thread automatically go to the final page? Why don't all threads do this? Much better. |

The course falls out of Hopkinton. It's probably smart to roll with it. I ran better there when I did than the year I slowed myself down. Running slow on the downhills can exact a price you'll pay later. Five minute miles are probably equivalent to about 5:15 on the flat. Randall really wasn't completely nuts to do that. Of course, in hindsight.... |

Good for him./quote Perhaps Mr. Randall was Hartman's rabbit, and wore a few Kenyans and Ethiopians out, along with himself? If you ever want to beat a pack of Kenyans, you have to lead a pack of them at some point. Perhaps your attitude is part of the reason that an American hasn't won Boston for what-30 years? We should dominate this sport-or at least be competitive-but instead we've become a nation of underachievers-afraid of the east Africans. |

I think this was done to ease the traffic opening the Thread so it did not have to be done multiple times. It seemed to have worked, as there was not a meltdown this morning. |
