So you're saying that a faster time would be more encouraging? Are you, like, some kind of genius or something? Would you also say that 3:34 and 13:44 would be more encouraging than 3:35 and 13:45? How about 3:33 and 13:43?[/quote] Don't be an ass. My point was clear to anyone that has half a brain. |

Your point was so obvious that everyone with half a brain is wondering why you bothered. |

I took Middle Distance Coach to be saying that 3:43 still isn't all that great, so the level of excitement is unwarranted. Rather than just stating a tautology, as many seem to be assuming. But I'm with the people who find this an exciting sign of things to come. I'm really confident he can make the trials. I think he might be a long-shot for the team, but I'll be rooting for him. |

Does anybody know, is it correct that he just had 6minutes between the races?! I think they said so in the video. |

Coach Mike Banks (of Georgetown) won the 1500 in the equivalent of a 4-minute mile. I hear he wants to challenge RoJo in a coach's race;-) |

Isn't Webb a professional? His times wouldn't qualify for the NCAA Championship meet... |

3:43:00 is the b-standard for the Oly trials , 3:39 for the a , he is close |

They said sixty minutes, not six. |

Once Alan is fit enough to lay down a sub 13 second 100 halfway through a 1500, watch out world. |

3:43 is only encouraging because of how bad he was running before...14:15 better have been a threshold effort if he's "back." 100 guys in division I could have duplicated this... |

Really? 100 guys could go 3:43.28 and then run a 14:15 60 mins later? College running is in a better state than i thought. |

In case anyone is curious, 3:43 is equal to 13:46 for a 5k and Webb's last 1600 was 4:23. |

Is Webb's strategy to race every week to get more comfortable with races? If so, I don't think it would be reasonable to expect him to go all out in every single race or he might burn himself out. |

I saw him do this in person, what a lot of people might not realize is that the time elapsed between his 1500 and 5K wasn't all that much. Less than an hour I believe. He looked reasonable out there (not like he must have last week) but he did not look world class as of April. |
