What puzzles me is why he running 2 400m's so early in the season, that might suit the American seasons but not the European, the timing of which the Olympics is based on. Maybe I'm wrong here, have the other US runners started as early?

He ran 45.62 at an invitational at Texas State last weekend.

He also ran the 200, why has only one person mentioned that? You don't think that would affect his time? This was clearly just a meet where he wanted to get some live training in.

Actually, I wouldn't be so quick to judge. According to the video, he ran the 400 before the 200.

Incidentally, his time in the 200 (20.84) was even more dreadful, given that he had a massive tailwind.

However, as I mentioned in another little-noted thread, Wariner did "gallop out" (to borrow a horse racing term) at the end of both races, continuing on for quite a way while all of the other runners stopped immediately in their exhaustion. Hopefully, that bodes well, even if his times were godawful.
