There was a great thread on here a little while back about workouts indicating sub-4 fitness. I'm looking for insight for a different milestone - sub 14 for 5k. What did you do in the weeks leading up to your first 13:5x race? Thanks! |

5 mile tempo controlled in ( 5:20, 5:10, 5:00, 4:50, 4:40) 18 mile long run @ 5:45 pace 4xmile in 4:30, 2 min jog rest |

I only ran under 14 min once (though I ran under 14:05 a bunch) and I can recall doing the following before hand: 3200 mile in 9:03 6 min rest 1500 in 4:27 5 min 4x400 in 59 with 60s rest |
