Two questions about Boston next Monday... 1) It has been awhile since I've been on a plane. I don't want to check a bag this weekend. Is my body glide ok or will they think its a bomb? What about the couple of gels I plan on bringing, could I use them as a weapon? 2) My wife is coming with me and will have a rental but can use the T. What is her best options for spectating? She would really like to see me in the first couple miles, somewhere in the middle, and the finish. Is that possible? Any advice is greatly appreciated! |

1. Just put them in your ziploc bag with your toothpaste 2. Boston is horrible for spectators. It's a straight line and the subway only covers the last 5 miles or so. Outside of that is trains and buses which run much less frequently. |

She can then get on the B line in Cleveland circle that is on the same road as the marathon to the finish. There are stops all along from mile 22-25 |

I would have her skip the start. The crowd of runners is so dense that it is likely she wouldn't see you, anyway. The Woodland suggestion on the D line sounds right on, and it's true she could then get off at the Reservoir and see you again. I don't know if getting on the C line from there is a good idea -- it's slow going with the runners and crowds, and you might make it to the finish before her. She could hop back on the D line and maybe do better. Make sure she has a Charlie ticket. Also, I think the Copley station is closed, so she should plan on Arlington stop. |

Yeah just put it in a ziploc bag and it will be ok. I was able to bring my gels on a plane last year. For your wife to watch you, her best bet would be to take the T to somewhere in the middle of the race to get the best chance of seeing you. Its going to be tough to see you at the start, middle AND end. If she wants, she can go by the finish line but she would have to get there before the start of the race even starts to get a great view. |

For access to vantage points prior to Mile 16, there is MBTA train service from Back Back station (1 block from the finish line) directly to: Framingham Center / 10K West Natick / Mile 8 Natick Center / Mile 10 Wellesley Square / Half Wellesley Hills / Mile 14 schedule - http://tinyurl.com/7x4x7pf |

If, for some reason, you have problems with the Gels, do not handle it this way. http://www.letsrun.com/forum/flat_read.php?thread=1504657&page=0 |
