Oh for fu\cks sake, just go out there and run. A little heat is not gonna kill you (but on the upside it might kill one of the fat penguins that got in on a charity ticket whom you all hate so much).
I've run 20 marathons. Mostly picked the races that had the best potential for fast times. Of the 20 races only 5 were run in dry weather with temps between 45 and 65 which is what I would consider good marathon conditions. I've done 3 Bostons, all of them above 70F. That's marathoning. The weather can be a bitch but you can't control it so get over it.
Again, "Boston" often means the airport, which is way west out with a lot of water. I can have significantly different weather than other places, especially inland. So, do not necessarily look at "Boston", but at a range of locations around the area. This morning I found very different forecasts for Hopkington than for "Boston"(Logan).
The conditions are the same for everybody. It is he who handles the conditions best who comes out on top. A racer would see these conditions as an actual benefit. Notice I said racer...not runner.

Notice how you're not racing, let alone running this year's Boston Marathon. Everyone running it is going to be hoping for decent weather. You'd be an idiot to want hot weather. Having said that, I'm still going to suck it up and run no matter what the conditions are, but I'm not gonna pretend that I wouldn't prefer for it to be 50 degrees as opposed to mid 70s on race day.
It just keeps getting worse.
Doesn't the race start at 10 a.m.? Peak daily temps are not until mid afternoon. According to NOAA, Boston temps between 10 am and noon look to be forecast around 65-70. Doesn't seem all that horrible.

Just like the hobby joggers here
This is the craziest pre-race week forecasting I've ever seen. Now wunderground.com is predicting a high of 84 for Boston on Monday (79 at 11 am) with WSW winds at 12 mph, while accuweather.com is predicting 63 with ENE winds at 15 mph.
I've seen the weather maps with the big front coming through and the contrasting temps on either side, so I understand the discrepancy. Will be interesting to see the forecast refinements over the next few days.
Actually the forecast is becoming laughable. Wunderground is now predicting a high of 93F for Monday in Newton. 79F at the start. That's black flag territory.
Read the Weather discussion over at NOAA. They are calling for record highs for New England for Monday. I would expect the BAA to address this sometime tomorrow.
Why is it laughable?

If you're running and want to see what the weathermen are all looking at, take a look at this site:
I'm not running. Can I still look at that site?
If the temp was 95 with a 100 mph tailwind, how fast can the leaders run?

The problem with, is tailwind too much, no cooling reaches runners, anymore. Therefore, runner overheat no matter what temperature is. This is big problematic.

No! He specifically said "If you are running..." what's so hard to understand? DO NOT look at the site if you're not running. (I looked at it and I'm not running. FML)
I'm just wondering how much this is going to slow me down.
weather back up to 84 - yeouuchh.
we should have a Boston fatalities pool, except that would not be funny if someone actually did die.
remember that wave 3 doesn't set out until 10:40 - the 4 hour people will be out there in mid 80s weather on the hills. Someone could actually die.

It's not going to slow you down, it's going to make you bonk earlier than you would otherwise. If you're in shape to run 32 miles at 50 degrees you'll be fine to run 26.2 in 75 degrees. I'm citing solid scientific research here. Don't argue with me.

Yes, but hobby joggers who use emoticons in their posts are so much worse.

Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
