When is Clay scheduled to compete? Or has he competed yet? There is only a couple of months before the trials.

Are the following scores really out of reach for him in the next four years? Young decathletes tend to improve a lot in the throws.
I forget some of the exact marks but the scores are right. He's already done a number of these.

I can't find any results for him. I also can't find a scheduled competition for him. Maybe? at the Brian Clay Invitational but I don't think that meet has typically included a decathlon competition. Maybe he is planning to petition for entry?

Further searching reveals he competed in selected events at the Tommy Tiny Lister Classic this weekend. Shot Put (15.17), 110HH (13.82), Long jump (7.07)
