This has been by far the most painful 48 hours of my life. I've been to the doc, and spent most of my time in the dark with shades on and my eyes closed. I've also been incapable of trolling for about two days Anyways -- lesson of common sense: always, always be careful with getting crap in your eyes and NEVER scratch your eye if you suspect there is something in it. |

I had one a few years back. My wife and I were in Las Vegas. We were eating at a restaurant and I made a smart ass remark to her and she flung a french fry over at me and it grazed my eye. It hurt for quite some time and it watered for at least a day. It didn't stop me from playing poker all night. When we returned home from Vegas I went to the eye doctor and was given some eye drops. My eye got better in about a week. |

I have had 2, including one last week. horribly painful...and incredibly sensitive to light. But with me the problem was that there was something on the contact cutting my eye. |

I got hit by a golf club in the eye when I was younger. I had to wear an eye patch for a while, but not long enough to get a cool looking one, so I just got stared at. For some reason I didn't believe it would really heal, but it did quite quickly. |

I got punched in the eye once and neglected to blink. Was really uncomfortable for 2-3 days, but your eye actually heals incredibly quickly. |

I got one trimming branches a few years back and I still occasionally have problems. After a few days of pain, I was back to normal and my eyesight was fine, BUT it is when you sleep that causes problems. Those microscopic scratches try to heal, but when you wake up (look up recurrent corneal erosion) you eye lid basically tears off all of the scar tissue and you go through massive pain and discomfort for about 20 min. I went back to the Dr. twice and was left with two options: A., have surgery, which sucks. or B., put eye vaseline (Refresh PM) in your eye every night -- which I have been doing for 2+ years. That helps tremendously, though sometimes because of the weather, or if you are dehydrated/drunk/hungover, it won't matter you are screwed. I coached myself into keep eye drops next to my bed so when I sense my eyelid sticking and can feel slight pain when I wake up, I keep my eye closed and put in some drops and that typically provides enough lube to detach you eyeball from your eye lid. This all sounds crazy, but do a google search and what I described happens to a lot of people with corneal abrasions. Good luck man. |

I had one too. It hurt like hell for two days. I don't I slept at all during that time. Strangely, I could run and that was about the only thing that made it feel better. |

Had one when I was probably 12 or so. I was screwing with my brother and he threw a pencil at me. It wasn't too bad apparently, I just had to take some drop stuff for a week that pretty much glued my eye shut for a while, but it didn't hurt too badly after the initial incident. |

Had the exact same problem and doctor told me to keep lubricating my eye or the 'wound' might re-open. The wound did open up a few times after initial injury and it was equally painful. What helped a lot was Muro 128. It's an over the counter that was also recommended by my doctor to use about a month after injury. Injury hasn't reoccurred since but i still use lubricant daily. Ask your doctor about it. Might help out |
