29:30?
Should be interesting.
Cool beans
Dnf
29 flat
Should be good for sub-29, but his mileage might be on the low side.
Will he go out in under 55 for the 1st 400?

those are seed times
26:16
I would not expect anything too fast since he is training for the mile/2-mile. I would guess around 29:20.
Does nobody here actually HAVE a seed time...?

No offense to Ed, but not real impressive. Like others said, it's too far out of his training/racing comfort zone. He's probably capable of under 13:50 for 5k, and usually someone that fast is under 29:00 if they're trained for it.
#8 all-time, but when you consider someone who was much slower at other distances - Parker Stinson - is ahead at 29:23 then it doesn't seem as impressive.
He's faster than Chapa at every distance, that should
work in his favor. Main issue is the pacing.

Sorry he is 1:10 slower than Chapa, pacing ain't gonna do it, unless you mean he just needs to run a faster pace.
Maybe his balls aren't as big as Chapa's? Takes real balls for a HS kid to do what Chapa did.
If I read one more post about a Kenyan interloper, Cheserek or otherwise, age indeterminate, recruited in by unethical coaches to get an advantage over native American runners, I am going straight to officials at the NCAA and USATF levels. We are now learning that Sam Chelanga, running as a college level runner through last year, is now running professionally at his real age, 27!!!! This is nothing less than an outrage, a crisis in the American college, and increasingly high school, running scenes, and a slap in the face to every American high school and college runner who plays by the rules. Serious comments only, please.

I hope you realize that Sam Chelanga never actually falsified his age when enrolled in college... He was either 24 or 25 when he graduated

Pace went out at 72s (30:00 pace) for 8K. Top 15 or so were all with the rabbit until he stepped off. So Cheserek closed in 2:42 for his last K. That's definitely an impressive close, but he's a long way off Chapa. In a more evenly-run race I give him about a 29:20.
Ok. Lets lower the competition level and only let american students run in college. What a joke. This should push americans to train harder if they want to compete.
