Truly ridiculous that this even got into the courts in the first place. http://bottomline.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/04/05/11040527-calif-kids-can-have-happy-meals-judge-rules?lite Pretty soon, fun will be outlawed. |

Is your objection to consumer protection laws or to the fact that we have a judicial system around to interpret those laws? Is the problem with this country that a)We have laws that outlaw certain types of product promotion. b)That a group of citizens might try to improve public health. c)That they sought to use the legal system instead of pitchforks and torches. I totally get the libertarian attitude that parents should be allowed to make these choice but which of the following more describes America? High Obesity rates or High Gov't interference in people's lives? |

I know right. I mean, it's not like we're in the midst of a childhood obesity epidemic or anything. Nothing to see here people. USA! USA! USA! |

Don't come crying to us when they pass a law against straw-man arguments and then throw you in jail for violating it. |

The fact that Happy Meals are still popular after 3 decades doesn't exactly paint a healthy picture of the country either. |

I'm pretty sure your obvious, unabashed and unapologetic racist ideology is what's wrong with America. |

This is what happens when the government owns MSNBC and Michelle is trying to change our eating habits, thinking she is doing something positive in life? Don't you all get it? |

I'm sorry, but you are an idiot. And even worse, misrepresenting the facts with your subject description. The case wasn't about whether or not children can have Happy Meals. It was about McDonalds using toys to market Happy Meals to children. I don't think the case was ridiculous at all. I'm in marketing and I know how the game is played. Do you know there are actual laws regarding advertising to children, and with good reason? Do you know why anyone under 13 years of age is not allowed to join Facebook, etc? I sure hope so seeing that you run a semi-membership based site that collects information from users for marketing purposes. I bet you also think SuperSize me was only about fast food making people fat. Stick to running shitty websites and leave lying and politics to the experts. |

I agree 100% with the last poster. This lawsuit was not about whether 'kids can eat a happy meal.' From the article itself, "The suit had claimed that the world's biggest hamburger chain was violating consumer protection laws and exploiting children's vulnerability by using toys to lure them to eat nutritionally unbalanced meals that can lead to obesity. The lawsuit did not seek damages. McDonald's spokeswoman Danya Proud said that the lawsuit was without merit and detracted from 'the important issue of children's health and nutrition.' " I'm a physician and I take care of a 340 pound 10 year old with diabetes. His mother is early 30's and has already had her below the knee amputation and is on dialysis. He's an extreme example but believe me, there are many many more not too far behind. They eat at McD all the frigging time. As do 9/10 of the other kids in this town. And McDonald's has the gall to talk about 'the important issue of children's health and nutrition.' I can only hope these marketing people get their just rewards in hell. They go home and feed their own kids decent food and continue to market this crap to the masses with their cutesy toys and play areas. Yeah, freedom of choice - whatever. I feel sorry for anyone who really believes that that is what this is all about. |

Enjoy that strip search for walking a dog off leash brojos, but yeah, that fact that this case was dismissed is example #1. |

What's sadly comedic is that all those folks who want GOV provided health care (paid thru by income redistribution) will be entering into a system which will likelier be costlier as people have far less incentive to take care of their health when then provided "free" courtesy of the GOV (which again, as people don't seem to get it, are the producers/income-earners/taxpayers). |

Even more ridiculous is the support the government gives these businesses. You don't want your parents in your business? Don't take money or subsidies from your parents. |
