It isn't that difficult. Food does not naturally contain salt. As you have said, most modern food has salt, because the salt has been added. It is not there naturally. I never eat salt.

I don't ever put salt on food either, but you absolutely need sodium from somewhere to live - I assume most food has enough naturally and of course pacakged food has more than one could possibly need. I have never liked salty snacks.

Even foods that simply don't need sodium have a ton added if any procecssing takes place. I just don't get it. it drives me crazy that they add preservatives to so many foods just because people insist on absurd shelf-lives. If people just plan their meals, they won't be left with food laying around uneaten for months. For the most part, my fridge is emnpty at the end of each week.

Bananas contain magnesium. Keep digging.
Bananas also contain sodium, although not much...
Bananas have peelings.

Salt doesn't have any peelings.

SALT is added, i.e. sodium chloride, not sodium.
who cares?

I don't understand the point of this discussion. Excessive sodium intake comes with eating too many packaged and processed foods. Why not just cut those out of your diet? It's a lot harder to reach the sodium levels you'll find in processed foods if you're adding table salt to your food. If you're blood pressure is normal and you're not some sort of raw-vegan fascist, why worry about that?

And yes, everyone needs salt. I remember reading in a textbook on Africa that in non-coastal areas where archaeologists have not been able to establish any natural sources of salt, they have used this as evidence that the group that inhabited the area must have had some form of trade going on.

Also, people lose salt at different rates. I sweat a ton, but I don't consume that much salt as far as I'm aware of (my blood pressure has always been much lower than average). Some people are saltier sweaters than others. Also, some nutrients take a LONG time to reach levels that are low enough for you to start showing symptoms.

Best diet is the Green Smoothie Diet. Google it. Tastes good, looks good, beats preparing a meal. Seems legit
