1) Start the DRAFT for 18 to 25 year olds. Limit 1st time conscriptions, enlistments and commissions of US Army combat ground infantry assault MOS's. ROTC, and service academy grads included and must serve in infantry. One year tour of duty in-country, three-years outside of a combat theater. 2) DRAFT has no school exemptions. No conscientious objectors. If you don't want to shoot, knife, choke, and beat the enemy to death, then you can be a MEDIC and not carry a gun. 3) Start a DRAFT Exchange. For $10,000 per year, you are exempt from the DRAFT, no questions asked. If you were in the service before you can't be drafted again. 4) Take the money from the DRAFT Exchange and pay medical insurance for un-insured and un-documented Americans. |

I don't like this. Black people on average won't have 10,000. Lots of rich White kids do. That means more Blacks and minorities will die fighting than whites which is inherently unfair. |

Dufring the Civil War, Spanish American War, WWI, WWII, etc. the rich paid to get out of the draft. Frank Sinatra, John Wayne, and millions of wealthy people got out of the draft with bribes. So why not make it official and collect $100,000 to avoid the draft, then take the money and pay for health care ? The money has to come from somewhere. QE3 is a sham. |

The Pentagon uses racial quotas to keep brigs and stockades at least 2/3rds full of White Hispanics, Blacks, and Mullato/Semites. Police Departments and Courts use racial quotas to investigate and imprison black, White Hispanic, and Mulatto/Semitic people. The Ivy League schools can help implement racial quotas since they openly exclude Asian people. Thus the Pentagon can use racial quotas to fill it's ranks with draftees to make it fair. |

It seems like you thought a little about this, so I'm guessing you're serious. The money you would raise through draft exemptions would more than be lost through the cost of the program--many many times over. Guns and officers and barracks and Humvees aren't free. Even if it were free, you would still be taking thousands or millions of people out of the work force and delaying the time between high school and college to the point were many of the learning skills will be lost upon matriculation. People need those four years to gather human capital either by going to school or working and gaining experience. By denying them that, you will make the economy much less productive and reduce the affordability of health care that way. A draft is always a bad idea because it prevents specialization. People can generally determine pretty well what careers are best for them. It would be a mistake to force a talented biochemist or business manager to enter the military where their skills won't be maximized. |

people live until 85 now. a year of grunt duty killing terrorists is good for the youth of america. after 250 years bayonets are still the principal weapon of the united states marines. the other services use drones and apache helos very effectively. teenagers are the best soldiers. i would be against any exemption, paid for or nor, for people 16-19 years of age. the loss of the afghansitan war has proven old farts euphenmistically relablled as 'special forces' has become the biggest pentagon failure since the fall of saigon. |

Is being un-uninsured the same thing as being insured? I don't know. Maybe being un-uninsured means that someone has a policy that pays out money when you are healthy, so the insurance company has an incentive to make you sick/kill you. I'm just throwing out ideas here. |
