Sued. No damages awarded. No settlement reached. They've just been sued.
You can sue for ANYTHING, whether it's true or not.
This is interesting but I'll be surprised if it continues. Not only will they have to show that v5f cause injuries, but that they cause more injuries than regular shoes, and that the injuries caused were when people used them as properly instructed. V5f is smart enough to have a lot of instruction/warning on their website:

Caveat Emptor - Let the buyer beware.
I was thinking of picking up a pair of Vibrams for lifting. My arches sometimes get sore and spasm when lifting with my shoes. No problems while running. I tried lifting barefoot and it all went away. This was when I was lifting at home. Now that I am lifting in a gym I am not allowed to go barefoot.
I am surprised that there are so many people that hate the five fingers. I can understand being apathetic. I mean I'm not a big fan of certain running shoes but I don't go around saying everyone who runs in them is an idiot.
Who are the Tards who think they are so fast on the posts. As if how fast you are is any measure of the validity of your posts.
I know of people that are sub four minute milers and sub 13:00minute 5k runners who have done it barefoot. So if thats the game you want to play not one can challenge the barefoot comments unless you are that fast. ....(trolls)
So we will wait for solinsky, teg, lagat or ritz to comment.
Look here are the facts
FACT #1. Vibrams do work for some people. There is an indisputable population that Vibrams has worked for.
FACT #2. Vibrams are not the fix for all people. Some peoples feet are not going to be able to switch to barefoot.
FACT #3. There are a lot of impatient fools who do too much in the vibrams too fast and get injured.
FACT #4. There isn't enough solid research on the claims of Vibrams and minimalist running. But there also isn't enough research to tear down minimalist running.
Its because there isn't much research I am curious to see what will happen.

Well said. I am not a fan of vibrams but I too am surprised that there are so many trolls who are avidly against it. If it is not your thing then keep it too yourself.
This post is in anticipation of a troll just waiting to be stupid.
I know tons of people who were injured training in Vibrams.
I am super fast and I hate people who run barefoot!!!
(Then we ask the question why do you hate bare foot people)
They respond because they are stupid.
(Just wait till you have kids you will see that this is the logic of 5 year olds)
Good luck with that way of thinking we will see how far it gets you.
I am another troll.
I hate the sound of barefoot runners it gives me hemorrhoids.
Yes and I am not fond of the sound of your stupid comments so do us all a favor and apply some prep H.
I am also curious to see what will happen.
There isn't any solid research for or against barefooting.
I know there are people who get injured in them. Most people just shrug them off and say that they doing too much too fast in them (How can we prove that?)
The weird thing is I know a lot of people who don't get injured in them.
I am always impressed by those who can make the transition with out any problems.
These two groups that exist really beg for some solid research. I don't see any solid conclusions about the pros and cons of barefoot running comming out for at least a decade.
I think it is simple if you have problems trying to run in minamalist shoes maybe you should stop and go back to normal shoes. There problem solved.
Do they make Six Fingers for the polydactyl crowd?

I've heard that a ton of people are getting injured with them, but it's because they're going from regular shoes to Vibrams very abruptly, without letting their feet strengthen first.
^^^This. Indeed, regular running shoes do not make one immune from getting injury.
One method, with or without, may suit some folks differently than others. Conclusion: the Vibram FiveFingers claims are not superfluous; the ridiculous lawsuit is.
Whatever; they look ridiculous so I hope people quit buying them.
You sound like an angry, sad person.
And are there any psychologists out there?
Why do people care what other people wear on their feet? I don't wear v5f, but have absolutely no emotional reaction when I see other people wearing them or hear them. They are not repulsive to look at. Seriously. What is with all the hate?

Every podiatrist in the world thinks minimalist shoes are retarded. Shoe company's invented this problem- they sell really cheap shiddy shoes to idiots for the same price as their regular trainers- and the idiots gobble it up. How dumb are you people?
Company's? Seriously?

Javi wrote:Just to throw my 2 cents in here, i train in vibrams and personally they've helped me alot. They've corrected my form and helped me with my shin splints. I went from running a 20:27 5k to an 18:53. Im not saying by just wearing the vibrams your going to be a better runner but they sure did help me. They're all i wear now for running. I dont wear anything else because if feels goofy, heavy, and unnatural.
So, you went form a slow beginner to slightly less slow? Congrats. I'm sure you'll enjoy the next fad just as much.
Dont worry i will :)
I can not for the life of me understand the logic for suing here...? What grounds do they have? Vibrams gives you all the information you need to make a successful transition(injury always a risk in physical activity) so when people don't follow those directions and get hurt how can they hope to blame anyone but themselves...a real lack of personal responsibility there...
To me this suit is like someone suing Subway for cheeky advertising that you will be like Jared and lose weight if you eat Subways...so Joe Blo goes down to Subway and gorges himself then gets even fatter, and sues for false advertising.
The last point to all you Super Legit Badasses that are so above the everyday jogger, Check Yourself. Those Joggers are the meat and potatoes that drive and maintain this sport, Elites are the seasoning that make it that much better. Without Andy and Mandy Bandy Organizing, jogging and cleaning up the road races that pay our way we would have a sport that is completely un marketable, and a sport that would soon become extinct...So if they have to pay 100 bucks for a pair of toesy shoes to get jacked on running sub 20 5k and not be obese, then hell yeah lets support the crap out of that!
and i'll say this Brenton Handa Chico State All-American..you guessed it he does it in Vibrams....just saying
I agree; I have never understood the runners' hate for Vibrams--or iPods for that matter. (Full disclosure: I run with the Merrell Trail Glove and an iPod. I like minimalist trainers, and, post college, most of my runs are solo, and now my runs are where I get most of my "reading" done--thanks Audible).
I have always equated the hate for Vibrams and iPods with the stupid, nonsensical aggression that fatties in cars direct towards runners.
Haters, why do you do it?
It's the lemming-like adoption and annoying evangelism from a largely mediocre group of performers that rubs most 'real' runners badly. Plus a lot of the same people using vibrams are triathletes and crossfitters - two populations comprised of despicable humble-braggers and enormously douchey narcissists.
Yawn. Just further proof that the US has the biggest glut of lawyers on the planet.
