Anybody out there run the Bayshore Marathon in Michigan last year? How bad was the congestion on the course? The race is apparently overfilled this year so I am wondering how crowded it gets in the final miles with the slower half marathoners in the way.

It gets crowded. Plan on weaving in and out of runners the last couple miles.

How am I supposed to run tangents with slow half marathon runners clogging the road the final miles?

The race is usually won in over 2:20 so there is no one there that is that interested in running fast. It is a well organized FUN RUN.

No... but then again he never runs all of it.

What's the big deal if it is congested and you have to weave in and out of joggers and walkers from the half marathon taking up the road? So, you may be a bit tired after 24 miles. Weaving in and out of the walkers will keep you on your toes and help pass the time. The real fun is when you hit the track and try to finish the final 50 yards and can't find a lane open as the walkers smile and wave to their family and friends in the bleachers while not caring about looking out for serious runners finishing.

A marathon with a half-marathon sideshow seems to be the norm these days. I find it tragic. Anything for a buck.

yup... My personal favorite is when they walk 2, 3 or 4 wide.

I am hoping an announcer at the start can let the slower runners know to be aware of what is going on and get out of the way to alleviate any problems. Maybe the walkers can stick to one side of the road.
