"Kenya can drop anyone and pick another athlete who will go on to win gold at the Olympics. Yet, THE COUNTRY HAS FAILED TO CLINCH THIS TITLE since it made its first show at the games in 1956," said Athletics Kenya (AK) chairman Isaiah Kiplagat Monday in Nairobi.

WHAT??

Is the "Chairman" of Athletics Kenya aware that someone from Kenya called Samuel Wanjiru won the Beijing 2008 marathon in Olympic record time? It was perhaps the most spectacular performance of the games. Maybe Mr. Kiplagat was too busy attending to important business in his five-star hotel to notice his nation's athletes winning Olympic gold?

And AK wonders why nobody respects their demands about coaching, training camps, race schedules, etc. They seem to be completely without a clue. What an embarrassment to the fat cats.

Oh, and by the way: the 1956 Olympic Marathon was won by Alain Mimoun of France. The only Kenyan entrant placed 31st.
