Hasay has made small incremental gains, but also has accumulated years of training and racing. She certainly appears closer to her peak than the others.

Not sure why you think she has set the bar high...she is a long way from the fastest collegiate runners. Her 1500, 3000 and 5000 marks are notable, but far from the junior records. She is certainly a long way from what Zola Budd was running as a teenager.

She makes the bottom of the US junior 1500 top 10 list, but does not make he 3000 or 5000 lists.

I like Hasay but Maier has less mileage in her legs and has more upside. However d not discount early starters as they can still emerge: Deena, Zola, Slaney.

They're both awesome athletes, let's root for them both!
