Depends on the event. For the longer distance events, I think they allow no times but they don't really do too much in terms of seeds for those races. The seedings are bigger for the 1500 on down when you have semis and finals. But I believe all competitors have typically competed in their hep events in the outdoor season before heps comes around. I know direct athletes used to compile indoor and outdoor performances for the outdoor listings if the event was competed in both seasons. I don't think tfrrs does this ( I personally hate that combining). |

Ah, thanks for the info, my Crimson/Maroon friend. Much obliged. I hope the weather cooperates for most of the League's meets today. I see the Ithacans will have cool and windy conditions, but some sunshine, anyway... |

5,000m run 13:34.49 — Dan Lowry, Brown (Stanford) 13:56.93 — James Leakos, Harvard (Colonial) 14:01.66 — Matt Duffy, Brown (Stanford) WOAH! Huge performance by Lowry -- that's like a 25 second PR for the kid..beating Scott Bauhs and Simon Bairu! |

Yeah, I found that *very* impressive. Stunning, to be honest. It's not really "out of nowhere"--he ran 4:03 and 8:02 indoors--but it's definitely a step up. I'm also impressed with Cornell's Kellner. I don't believe she was under 34mins before, so PRing (and beating the USOT "B" qualifier) by more than a minute--whoa! Running a pair of 16:29s (Heps 5,000 last year was won in ~16:45!) is a *major* improvement. |

Grrr...anybody know where the results from this weekend's meet at Cornell are? Get on the stick, Big Red! |

Usual meet director was in Stanford this weekend, Rojo uploaded the results to Letsrun.com in the meantime until they can be sent to Direct Athletics and then tffrs.com http://www.letsrun.com/2012/cornellspring.php |

Lowry=mortal lock for the 5k win. |

I don't know... I think it depends on whether or not Stilin or Cabral decide to run it at Heps. Cabral is a 3 time 5k all-american (twice outdoors, once indoors) and Stilin has already run a 13:53 this year. FYI, the meet 5k record is only 13:53.74. I think that will be jeopardy this year. |

Depends if Lowry will double. Has he ever run the 10,000? |

Based on Lowry's team bio and outdoor Heps results from 2009 thru 2011, I don't think so. Internet is acting up so cannot check TFRRS right now. |

I'm not sure either. The 5,000 meet record is from '87 by Navy's Ron Harris. I can't remember if he doubled in the 1500 that year or was it only in '86. |

He did win the 1,500/5,000 double in '86; courtesy of the archives at Hepstrack.com, these were the men's winners in the longer races in 1987: 1,500-meter run — 1. Paul Kent (Harvard), 3:46.06 5,000-meter run — 1. Ron Harris (Navy), 13:53.74 10,000-meter run — 1. Chris Schille (Brown), 29:33.61 3000-meter steeplechase — 1. Robert Packowski (Navy), 8:44.06 |

I went there first before posting. I think I remember Harris doubling in the 1500 and 5000 in '87 too but my memory fails me. I wish there were deeper results for '86 & '87 as I can't even remember who ran in my events back then... |

I don't know if the League carried any of the older results beyond event winners. Also, according to TFRRS, Dan Lowry has not run the 10k. I don't think it would make sense for him to do the 5k/10k as he is more of a shorter-long distance person (i.e. mile, 3k, 5k). Perhaps the 1500/5k isn't too far off? His mile PR is 4:03. http://www.tfrrs.org/athletes/2274889.html Lastly, I was wrong earlier: Stilin ran a 13:51 earlier this season, not 13:53. Regardless, I think the 5k Heps record is going to be reset in a month. |

It seems like most years the race is more tactical so unless Lowry pushes the pace (or someone else does) the record has a good chance of staying. Harris had the benefit of racing against Brown's Greg Whitely in '87 and the top 2 Heps times are from that race... |

Yes, a large number of people are entered into the 5,000 as part of a double, and typically try to run the race as easily as they can. Almost every year, there will be a few guys, who have no chance in a sprint finish and know it, who will nevertheless content themselves with remaining in a slowish lead pack and hoping for the best. |

Just noticed that Alexi Pappas, Donn Cabral, and Conor McCullough lead the D1 standings in the steeplechases and hammer throw. Funny enough, there is a kid in NAIA who has thrown further than McCullough, about 9 meters further according to TFRRS. And that kid couldn't get a D1 scholarship? It looks like Pappas will do the steeple this weekend at Mt Sac while Cabral will do the 5k. No word if McCullough is competing this weekend or not. Other Ivies at Mt Sac: Kyle Merber (800m, 1500m) - columbia Matt Miner (1500m) - dartmouth John Bleday (5k) - darmtouth Brad Kenimer (5k) - dartmouth Jon Gault (10k) - dartmouth Ethan Shaw (10k) - dartmouth Adam Cotton (1500m) - harvard Joe Stilin (5k) - princeton christina supino (800m, 1500m) - dartmouth abbey D'Agostino (5k) - dartmouth caitie meyer (10k) - dartmouth alexi pappas (SC) - dartmouth alex banfich (10k) - princeton Stephanie Pancoast (SC) Delilah DiCrescenzo (SC) Ashley Higginson (SC) Anna Pierce (5k) Liz Costello (5k) Becky Christensen (HJ) Kate Grace (800m) Liam Boylan-Pett (1500m) Dan Chenoweth (5k) |

Must be a typo unless that kid PR'd by 100 feet. |

Must be a typo unless that kid PR'd by 100 feet.[/quote] If it is a typo, it wouldn't have been the first time TFRRS has done so. The TFRRS still has McCullough listed twice under the hammer. |
