Thanks for the correct info. I think coaches plan out their schedules back in September and then update them internally during the year... it's happened many times on other schools' websites as well.

Who knows, perhaps a warmer-than-average spring can produce some very great performances later... oh wow, outdoor Heps is only seven weeks away.

Was the Cornell runner DQ'd for his stunt at 3:25?

Columbia and Princeton combined for a total of 1 athlete in that final. Man, how times have changed.

Conor McCullough 234' today. New league record. Obviously #1 in the country so far, would have put him at #3 on last year's final POP list.

Princeton distance guys showed some depth on Friday at the Monmouth Season Openner. Running the 1 mile (without -their two sub-4 minute guys - Callahan and Stilen) they had 6 under 4:10; 11 under 4:13 and 18 under 4:20. This also did not include Freshmen Mike Mazzarrao and Sam Pons both who ran sub 4:10 in high school.

Cabral's mile time is the 7th best in conference history. Since this is his third time just missing the 4min/mile barrier (twice indoors, once outdoors that I know of), I wonder how many more times he will try to do the mile this year to break it. I bet he can do it if he trains.

Oh wow, HepsTrack already updated the all-time listing with Cabral's and McCullough's marks!

Some observations from early-season meet results, as posted on http://www.tfrrs.org/lists/911.html (and other sources), and responding to BRF's OP. (And understanding that it's *very* early days yet--Brown hasn't even opened, for instance, and should make an immediate impact in several men's and women's events, once it does.)

Short-sprint action has been limited, with several teams/individuals apparently opting not to compete in the open 100m yet. Cornell men head that abbreviated list, though Ojukwu's 10.62 was their only one not wind-aided. Penn owns the women's short sprints now, but those 100/200 lists will surely be rewritten over the next two weekends. In a small surprise, Cornell's 4x100 squads have already posted times better than those that won last year's Heps titles; their women's 46.21 was without Hewitt.

In the 400, no competitive times yet on the men's side, though Cornell has gone sub-3:14 in the relay; and only one woman under 56 so far (Cornell's freshman Colliesuah), though Cornell and Penn have both posted decent 4x4 times.

You know what? Screw this. It's too early. I'll wait for a couple more weekends' results--nothing really to analyze here. (And TFRRS seems to be down right now anyway.)

Oh, except I think I can predict that McCullough has a good chance of winning the men's hammer...

Unless, (heaven forbid!), he fouls out.

Looks like Mozia could be strong enough to pull the shot/discus double though... from what I understand, the discus is his specialty.

FYI: it looks like the Sam Howell Invite on April 6th and 7th could be a pre-Heps as everyone except Cornell and Brown are scheduled to compete.

It would certainly be impressive if a frosh could pull that off! OTOH he was beaten at indoor Heps (by Harvard's Glauser, another frosh); and--I see from a trip to Cornell's team page--Mozia's got a ways to go before he gets the CU freshman record in either event (those stand at a rawther good 61' 8 1/2" and 172' 1").

Ugh. "Wait another couple of weekends" is right--what a miserable day for a track meet in the Northeast. I hope the weather cooperated better for Penn and Princeton, scheduled to compete in Points South.

Anyway, kudos to Ithaca College for getting its meet results uploaded to TFRRS so promptly--and to TFRRS for updating the Ivy list right away with those marks. Anyway, for Cornell--which kept a number of its frontline athletes out of the Ithaca meet--there were only a couple of season's bests that could realistically feature in any handicapping of the Heps.

Mentioning "season's bests" reminds me of a couple questions:
1. For purposes of seeding in the outdoor Heps, are performances from the indoor season allowed?
And, if so, is it only 2012 indoor performances, i.e. nothing from December?
What about indoor marks set during the *outdoor* season?
(For instance, it looks like the IC folks held at least one or two events in their indoor facility today.)

2. If indoor marks may be used for seeding, will the TFRRS performances list include those? I see that it doesn't now.

Sympathies to all who competed in the Northeast today. I used to live in the Rochester, NY, area and can well remember March track meets conducted in blinding (literally--you couldn't see the runners on the backstretch) snowstorms, with meet organizers finally admitting defeat and moving the 10,000m to an indoor facility. I love track and field, but...gack.

Mozia threw 62'8" indoors for both the indoor Freshman and indoor school record in the shot, although did not throw well at Heps and has yet to crank one in outdoors, I would be very surprised if both he and Glauser did not go 60 feet in the next couple weeks. Mozia also threw 171 today in the discus, so I would not be surprised if he took home another set of records and some Heps Gold. He and Glauser will most likely be duking it out for the next few years, GREAT RIVALRY!

Okay, this is looking like a pretty productive couple of days for the Ivy teams. With the bulk of the weekend's competition yet to come later today (Saturday), there've already been some pretty wholesale rewritings of seasonal performance lists in the distance races, mostly with marks from Stanford and from Princeton's Sam Howell meet. Good steeplechase times from Princeton's Donn Cabral (8:39) and Dartmouth's Alexi Pappas (10:07), plus a sub-33:00 10,000m from Cornell's Katie Kellner.

After all the weekend's dust has settled, I might take a stab at an absurdly-early scoring of a virtual meet. Aaaand I might not, too--no women's 3,000m list at the TFRRS site (yet another good reason to eliminate that event!), and quite limited relay action so far. (The multis will be spotty, too, but that's usually true right up until the Heps meet itself.)
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Still wondering about the following--maybe you Heps-savvy folks know?

1. For purposes of seeding in the outdoor Heps, are performances from the indoor season allowed?

2. IF indoor marks may be used for seeding, will the TFRRS performances list include those? (I see that it doesn't now.)
