He looked awesome again today. The complete opposite of his perfromance over 10k at Zatopek.
He let Collis Birmingham do all the work and nearly running on his heels for the last mile. There was way more in him today. It was a treat to be there.
Mottram will rock London this year
13:18 in the rain, in early March...could be a good sign of things to come. This guy was running fast when NO OTHER NON AFRICAN was....so i hope he does well in london. watching him barely break 14min in his heat in Beijing and not even making the final was sad
Cool! Buster can go 12:50 come July and London!!!
Results?
Bump... What an awesome race! Way to go Mottram! Great to see Will Leer up there running a fast 5000m too.
according to the results he didnt win!
when i check the link above it had birmingham listed twice, the first time was from a race in Hobart the day before (1st in 13:15) and the 2nd was from today (Melbourne) in which he placed 2nd to Mottram in 13:22. Did Birmingham really race two days in a row?
He has a decent record of races in the rain. Wasn't his 5k bronze in the rain? I think he finished 2nd to Bekele in a 3k in the rain as well.
With that said - best thing that could happen to Mottram is a rain soaked 5000m final.
Plus - Mottram has a decent record of racing in England. Don't bet against this guy at Olympics...he has a lot of motivation going into the olympics.

No Birmingham raced a 5000 in hobart about 4 weeks ago, where he won in 13.15
just looked at results.. silly american
day/month/year
You can count on Mottram to put his best foot forward for London. A finalist? Likely. A medalist? I don't think so.
awesome. Buster's gettin better, but will he be back under 13:00 by August?
Everywhere besides the United States, dates are written day/month/year. So Collis Birmingham ran two 5ks this year. One on 3/2/12 or Feb. 3rd 2012, and another on 3/3/12 or March 3rd, 2012.
Also the link provided wasn't the results to the race, it was the fastest 5ks so far this year.
yes, see by post above in this thread.
hmmm....looks like someone finally relocated his much touted testicles. atta boy Craig.

Although it is possible that Buster could go sub 13 again this season, I would be somewhat surprised to see it happen.
I would say that if Buster is in 13:10 shape right now, he has a good shot in 5 months. He ran 13:18 in Melbourne, which isn't too far off, but still quite a ways from sub 13. I didn't watch the race, was it rabitted or not? If it was simply a tactical race vs. Birmingham, I think it is feasible to think he is in a position to break 13.
Who here CANNOT WAIT for a Solinsky/Mottram showdown? Big white dude battle what????
