No Lelisa, no Kebede, no Geb, no Geb Geb. Dubai changed everything.

Wow. Gebremariam was their best shot. Way open for the Kenyans. 1-2-3

So they simply took the ones that ran the fastest times in the most favourable conditions (dubai 2012).

No consideration given to proven winners such as Kebede or Geb Geb?

Or on the women's side, what about Firehiwot Dado who won NYC, or Ejegayehu Dibaba who had that great 2:22 debut at Chicago, a race run in warm conditions more typical of what we might expect in an Olympic marathon?

That would be crazy if the Kenyans went 1-2-3. I agree it could easily happen.

Neither Rotterdam (Geb)nor London (Kebede) won´t change anything because none of them will run faster but to make the decision of one good result is stupid

Ejegayehu did not race after chicago. I can see her losing to crappy Irina Mikitenko at London 2012 Marathon.

yes london has lots of runners but they all suck losing to Irina Mikitenko with the exception Of Jessica Augusto and Aberu kebede cause they're newcomers to the marathon. Askale Tafa , Konovalova, Azusa Nojiri, Yoshiko fujinaga, abitova, zhu xiaolin lornah all suck

Irina MIkitenko ran boring Paucherbauch 2011. That doesn't tell much about her stupid old fitness. She's 40 yrs old time to retire. Lots of people broke 2:22:18 that's an average time. Aselefech, Bezunesh, Lydia Cheromei and many others broke her timing.

Liliya Shobukhova and Ndereba broke like 9 Paula Radcliffe timing including 2;18:56 except the first 3. I can see Florence and Mary Keitany breaking 2:18:56. 2:17:42 should be the world record because it can be erase. 2:15:25 can't be erase.

A very brave move by Athletics ETH. In doing so, they intend to send a young, fearless and relatively inexperienced team to London.

What baffles me is the experience part. Sure, you want to send your fastest boys but big marathon experience must have its say in selection. Leaving out a guy like Kebede will be foolish. Sure he is going through a slump but he has big race experience that is necessary in a tactical race like an Olympic Marathon.

Kebede is also a marathoner who runs with this head - he knows when to punch an attack and when to hold back.

I would have had Kebede on that team. Kebede + Absehero will be a deadly combination and something that Kenyans would fear.

Kudos to AE to release the preliminary list and making a bold statement at that - You want an Olympic spot, you better run somewhere close to the Kenyans :)

It will be interesting to se what type of teams the africans send to London, as there will be state of the art drug testing facilities.

Yes, Kebede and Gebremariam and Abshero would be a very good combination
