How has thast worked out for most of the other Kenyan's not named Lagat through the US system?
Kipcangogo (sp)
Kimani
Robert Cheseret
Boaz Cheboiywo
Chelenga
None of them did much (in Kimani's case for obvious reasons) after being huge college stars. Chelenga looked poised to be great with his 27:08 but never has shown any further potential since.
Rupp has done amazing things at every level and keeps getting better. That's what makes him great. He's not a flash in the pan, he's not throwing all his eggs in one basket too early, he's not 30 as a freshman in college. (not suggesting all of them were old but it's likely one or some are).
Isn't lawi like 34 years old anyway? Past his prime.
5/10 trolling
no reason to think that galen is done, not by a long shot.
and to the idiot who thinks lawi is better than galen NOW over 5k, seasons bests don't mean anything right now. galen hasnt tried to run a fast 5k or 10k yet and won't until after worlds.
So what if Lawi is ahead of where Galen WAS in college. Lawi will never run 7:30 3k, 26:48 10k Galen's current PR's.

Lawi Lalang led at least 4 laps of his 13:07, a feat which Galen Rupp cannot lay claim to. Rupp was dragged along to his 12:58.90, and Lalang has shown he can run faster than Galen at 1500m and is not afraid to lead, a great combo. Galen is afraid to lead.
Lalang also ran a fair amount of his 3:33.20 in lane 2. Lawi can probably run 3:32 right now.

Rupp vs Lalang in Monaco: who ya got?
I see Rupp never getting in the mix in this one. Without big bro Mo in the race we will see a mid-pack finish if not a DNF.
Your post appears to have been written by a 12-year old girl.
Rupp lost to Lawi today...
Even after going out in 5:34 and "blowing up". Lagat may still be on the track though. Awful day for him.

Sorry, meant 5:04
Remember this was Lawi's last race of the season, he was going all out.

Yes, there is no doubt that Lawi Lalang is already better than Galen Rupp. Rupp ran a nice little 2 mile, a bit faster than Emiel Puttermans ran on a shitty track when Nixon was President, but Lalang is going to be much better. Rupp is not able to beat the big boys, and that is OK. Rupp is doing fine, but he should not have oversized expectations placed on him. Rupp has reached his peak and will not improve. That is OK.
Correct.
Lawi just Rupped Rupp at his own game
Rupp has the faster PR's and an Olympic medal.
/thread
Rupp would never qualify for the World Championships or Olympics if he had to do it for Kenya. Hardly Rupp-Certified
these statements tend to be the end of the many once was rupp slayers, they just fall off at some point. it's like a curse to be claimed to be better than rupp as an up and comer. seriously.

Until he medals in the Olympics, Lalang is not even close to Rupp.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
