On another note, does anyone know anything about this Valley of Red Dust film? This trailer was on Letsrun a while back:

ITEN: Valley of Red Dust - http://vimeo.com/32753225

Trailer looks amazing, but I can't find much info on whether it's still in production, if it has a release date, etc.

Sure that's more to it than this? I think this is just a short put together by Francis Coral Mellon

I wondered about that too. It's designed to look like a trailer but I suspect you may be right. Very cool film, either way.

2011-2012 is turning out to be quite the year for documentaries on Kenyan Running, which we think is great. Our sport is unique in that little is known about the lives of our sports current and soon to be stars.

I'll throw our film into the mix as well:

Where Dreams Don't Fade, which will have its US Premiere at the 36th Cleveland International Film Festival March 27, 28, 29.

Trailer, other screening opportunities and DVD info coming soon.

For info on the film and how to see it in Cleveland:

The Eamon Coughlan one was solid. The Iten - Town of Red Dust one looks great as well. I'm hoping it's a trailer and there will be a full film. If anyone has any info, let us know!

I know of two more websites/ongoing productions that might interest you:

Firstly, a documentary called 'Catching An Antelope' which concentrates on Brother Colm O'Connell's story and his work in Iten. Link: http://www.catchinganantelope.com/index.html

Secondly, a documentary called 'Town of Runners' which tells the story of a similar town to Iten, but in Ethiopia. It is called Bekoji where the likes of the Dibaba sisters and Kenenisa Bekele hail from. Link: http://www.townofrunners.com/

Both are still in the process of production although the first has been facing some funding difficulties for a while. 'Town of Runners' will be released on 28th April 2012.

Enjoy
