Due to unresolved hip and groin pain during my running for the past 3 months, I got a referral for an MRI. These are the results:
"Abnormal marrow edema of the left acetabulum extending into the left illiac wing suggesting stress reaction. A hairline stress fracture cannot be excluded. There is no misalignment."
What is the prognosis for such an injury? How long should I rest from running, and what is the extent of the cross training that I can do?
I have a follow-up appointment with a Sports Doc, but that is not for a couple of weeks.
This whole injury is weird. I wasn't running all that much in the lead-up to that pain, leading me to believe that it was the result of poor mechanics and a weak core. Can I do core strength while I let this injury heal, or will that put unneeded stress on my hip?
Thanks.
