He was a senior and that was also OUTDOORS and still not as fast as Frezer's mark. I have to admit you are doing pretty well for a D sucker. |

Wait, is this thread about trashing a random high school, congratulating a runner, or xenophobia!? Can it really be all three? |

None of the above. From I was able to grasp, it was about overcoming adversity, something that needs to be done more in modern times. Mad props to everybody down South doin ya thang. |

His high school PR's are very shocking!! 4:42-1600m and 10:10-2 mile! Now he's running 1:49- 800m and 3:58-mile!! HOW???? |

Ok, I just drove by Grant HS and then found this thread. It is quite odd that Grant would have "produced" two sub-four milers. Not Jenks, not Edmond Memorial. Very odd. They've never had any running tradition that I know of. Maybe back in Rose's day they did, but I'd be surprised. In any event, this Frezer cat deserves mad props for how far he has come. No doubt he's talented, but there is obviously some outstanding mid-d coaching going on at OU these days. Have something else to post about Grant HS, but will save it for another thread. Stay tuned! |

Gary Lower was Larry Rose's US Grant coach. Coach Lower also coached Jim Bolding who later held the American record in the 440 intermediate hurdles. Coach Lower had an excellent record at Grant as well as being assistant track coach at University of Oklahoma in the 1970s. Ghost of Igloi |

Obviously you never been inside of Grant or met any "Grant Kids". Everything you said about Grant sound so dumb! Our building is NOT trashy! Also, the way you describe the students being poor, having no food, wearing "water-doggs" (whatever those are), not having a pair of shoes...For real? What does any of these things have to do with Frezer being one of the best runner out there?? I think someone is jealous of a Grant student... Just saying.. =) |

Dear "just drove by there", Driving past somewhere tells you absolutely nothing about a schools student body, past, or present. Im willing to bet my 9inch lovestick on the fact that you are blissfully unaware that the entire Grant High was demolished 6 years ago due to pests, mold, asbestos, anthrax, insects, parasites, and drug infestation. The currently building is basically brand spanking new. |

Yeah, some of these posters are really over-exaggerating on how bad Grant is. I graduated from there and it's not as bad as some of you are making it out to be. |

A lot of you people need to think before you post. Take a couple of minutes to stop making ridiculous comments and watch some of Frezer's interviews - he has had a few during cross country and track. He is very intelligent, speaks English, and if he wasn't named Legesse none of you would be talking about him being African. And, while OU may not be Harvard, it is certainly comparable to most other large state schools. Frezer does not have anyone doing his work - he doesn't need to. Bottom line is that Frezer is an extremely hard-working young man that has achieved a sub-4 mile. Congratulate him - don't talk crap about someone you don't know. |

Guess you conveniently skipped over the part about my going to make another thread about Grant, didn't you? Anyway, I'm in that neighborhood all the time. Grew up around there and still visit relatives often. The point, as those with a modicum of reading comprehension know, is that Grant is the last place in Oklahoma one would expect to have sub-four miler bragging rights. I'll contribute more later, but in the interim try not to be a douche. |

My name is Enrique Benitez and I attended both Southeast and Grant Highschool, and I can assure you that he has someone doing his work. I was a walk-on at OU not too long ago and i'm informing you from personal experience, they DO HAVE someone else do the classwork/homework for foreign athletes. I witnessed it for over a year and it made me sick to my stomach how foreign athletes get special treatment just because they are talented. If any of the foreigners on OU's squad were held to the same standards of the others on the team, they wouldn't be eligible for a single race. Period. As far as US Grant goes, my only suggestion is that they need better substitutes when a teacher is absent. Every single substitute they hired was always a prostitute or greezy biker gang guy wearing a leather jacket, leather pants, and a dogchain around his neck. Seriously. Grant needs to find some better substitutes. |

Legasse is a stud. He was at an NAIA school before going to Oklahoma. On the Oklahoma subject, they have an AMAZING group of mid distance guys right now with him, Riley Masters, and Patrick Casey transferring there from Montana State. I forget the names of the other two sub 4 guys, but Oklahoma is definitely doing something right! They also had a sophomore go 4:05 last year but transferred to Colorado State. |

If his last name wasn't Legesse, that still wouldn't take away from the fact that he is of Ethiopian descent. |

You are a first class douche. Your post is completely false. Everything about it. I think you are just bitter that OU kicked you off the team. |
