WTC's split timing is invariably notoriously unreliable.
Also, based on the race commentary, he didn't slow down by 45s/km, and no way was he going 3:15/km at the start.
This is why people are questioning both his pace, and the accuracy of the course. We know he would be tight after the transition, but Lance hasn't done anything up to this point that shows he can run a 1:11 in an open half marathon.

Yeah, I would say so. remember this is 50 feet not 50 meters. this is about the distance you would have to run to cross a street with a median lane. i'd say most people could sprint this distance at 5:50 pace
That is just a BS statement. Most people can not run 5:50 pace for 50 feet. Sad, but true.
This whole thread is silly. Look through the results:
The swim is obviously short but there's nothing out of the ordinary in any of the run times in male or female pro or AG times. If the course was mismeasured, Lance's run was worth at worst 1:18:xx. Former Stanford steepler Jesse Thomas ran 1:15. Bevan Docherty's accomplishments are well known. Those who think Lance was running 7 min pace or worse really think these other guys were running in the 1:25-1:28 range? I recently paced a girl to a 1:30. I've run 1:30ish in a 70.3. It looks much, much uglier than what Lance looked like.
The swim was point to point with a following current so that made it quick despite being the correct distance. The bike and run were basically spot on.
Here is Lance's Strava file for the race.
Salazar is coaching Lance and said he thinks he can get him in 2:35 marathon shape. A 1:17 off the bike is roughly 2::35 open marathon shape. The course might have been a little short as is accepted for triathlon but I bet it was close.
And for all the haters, he would beat anyone on here in a triathlon.

Exactly my point. He is a 2:46 marathoner running a 1:17 half in a tri? He would have te be in 2:31 shape now to do that, assuming that 1:17 half intri equals 1:12 straight half.
I doubt he can run a 2:31 half right now 5 years after his marathon pr of 2:46. At this age you get slower not faster.

This should settle it. We saw the video, it was from the beginning and he looked awfully slow. And the split says 3:15min/km? That is 5:13min/mi for the first 3.8km? NO F**** WAY.

Haha. There is not a chance that was a 3:15/km speed he was running in the video. But what is the big deal? The man was a cheat and everyone knows triathlon distances more than not wrong, they really don't care for accuracy.

The drugies can make you quite fast at any age. There is some 55+ yo running marathons at 2:34.
I'm surprised nobody mentioned the fact he's got the expression of a floundering flounder on his face.

this should end the thread - thanks for finding it. It says the run was 12.5 miles on a GPS. So 77/12.5 = 6.16/mile
6.16 pace * 13.1 = a half marathon in 1:20:41.
So he was running at 6:10 pace - not too shabby, at the end of a 70.3.
saw myself in the window running like 5:50 pace yesterday.
lance has to be running like 6:45 there.
or i would be very depressed if he were keeping pace with me moving like that.

Having run under and around 1:17 before I can guarantee that this is not the pace that you need to run for a 1h17m. This looks more like 1h30m pace to me.
He just has a short stride. Look at his turnover. It's at least a low 6 minute pace. Not 1:30.

It never fails...the classic "he's faster than you" comment regarding why one supposedly can't make a judgement call about another...so so played out and so so irreverent...
