26 is pretty old for college, but it's the 26 year old HIGH SCHOOL kids that we have a problem with.

I felt like I was going to blow a gasket, and my kid was screaming at the computer when he saw the news. Hope that helps you.

There are many reasons why Letsrun dispises the success of Lawi Lalang and cheers the success of Miles Batty and not one of them has to do with the fact that Lawi is black and Batty is white.
Let me guess. Some of your best friends are black...
yeah agreed it's pathetic that coddled white mormons like miles batty are still competing in NCAA at 25 years old

Maybe it's just me, but I'm not upset because there's nothing illegal about it.

You don't speak for me. And if you're going to despise someone, learn the word before you use it.

Huh.
Is this about 24-year old Miles Batty?
Or did some 26-year just break an NCAA record?
Batty isn't 26, but in all fairness, he is 25 in June, which IMO is way too old to compete in NCAAs. Centro, on the other hand, is 22, still a college student, and unable to receive the "college" record for the mile because he is a professional? Seems pretty stupid that Batty loses to another college student / athlete and gets the record for college runners. I would argue that being 24 2/3 years old should be a much bigger knock against getting a college record than being a sponsored runner.

That's close to the average age of a college person in the United States

Mispelling a word does not equate to misunderstanding a word, stupid. At least try to make sense in your comebacks.

Batty was born here and Lawi was not.
Neither Batty nor Lalang are 26 years old.
There are no age restrictions in college, explain why this should matter at all.
This, I find it disgusting that highschool associations will take these people in HIGHSCHOOL. The problem seems to stem mostly from either California or the North East.
My big problem is not necessarily some adult beating children in a race or sports in general, its foreign ADULTS going to school with HIGHSCHOOL aged children in the US and the communities that seem to think this is acceptable.
It only becomes acceptable when the age of the vast majority of students reaches 18 years old, like in College.
If I found out there was a 20 year old competing at my daughter's school on her track team I would take her off the track team. So would a number of the other parents.
I'm surprised parents don't make this a big deal, because it is a big deal.
Henry Rono was 27 when he won the NCAA cross country championships in 1979. As a 26-year old in 1978 in a span of only 81 days, he broke four world records: the 10,000 meters (27:22.5), the 5,000 meters (13:08.4), the 3,000 meters steeplechase (8:05.4), and the 3,000 meters (7:32.1); an achievement unparalleled in the history of distance running...as a 28-year old in 1980 he STILL competed as a collegiate for track & field.
Sam Chelanga was 25 when he won the NCAA cross country championships in 2010. He holds the NCAA record for the 10,000 meters run with a time of 27:08.49.
If anyone has a right to complain against two athletes being over-age...its these two.

Let's be honest. Your problem is with kids from Africa breaking American records. There is a word for that. Oh yeah. RACIST
Because every single college runner has the option of living in his/her basement for a year or two (instead of going on a mission) and then entering college and competing in the NCAA.
It is not Batty's fault that other college runners don't care about college running enough to do that...
Morceli was 20 years old, number one in the world and going to an American college.
Maybe he should have been eligible for college records.
