Low mileage if you are talented and want to be fast.
High mileage if you are untalented and want to be fast.
High mileage if you are talented and want to be great.
You need to be specific as to what you mean by "high mileage" and "low mileage." Those terms can mean entirely different things to different people.
Well for me low mileage is 30-45 and high mileage is about 55 up for me. I'm only 15 though
What do you consider high mileage?
There is appropriate mileage for long term progress and then there is under training for recreational runners.
8-10 miles a day, 2-3 workouts a week, year around with 4 weeks break is pretty good for 5k runner.
10k runner should bump it up to 8-12 miles a day, and consider running double days occasionally
1/2 marathon runner should do occasionally double days and longer workouts
etc
No mileage is best. Cross-training only. Preferably CrossFit. Save your knees.
High mileage when training.
Low mileage when racing.
