If anyone took video of that race, please post here.
Good result. I hope he feels the same way about it.
Just under five months until the trials. Happy to see him racing himself into respectable shape. 1:49:xx within the next few weeks (if he continues to race 800s) would be encouraging.
He showed little "sub 1:48 shape in the summer" signs.
He was at 1:55 last month and is likely in the middle of heavy training. He's demonstrated more than once how quickly he can round into shape when everything is clicking and he's healthy.
1:51.9*
Lets be real, Webb can race into shape. He will run 1:47 if he wants, and will do it soon. Expect 3:51 shape this summer no problem.
Talent doesn't go away no matter how many times something gets in his way. If he just keeps hitting it things will fall together. I would not be even remotely surprised now to see him make the team, he is going in the right direction, and he is showing mad aggression.
I think the other big thing to take away is that Alan has given no indication that he is doing any specific work for the fast stuff right now so if he's running this off pure base I think he's coming along very nicely.
If he's being coached by Vig, then remember Robbie Andrews last season (also coming off an injury). Was running 1:49's for a month and then 6 weeks later busted out a 1:44. Webb could be heading in this same fitness progression.
I am absolutely loving this barnstorming what the heck alan webb. He's like a pool shark looking for a game, whereever whatever. Who does this? Maybe webb should go as my entry in the king of cool thread.

I never got off his OLD bandwagon. Hope he's been working on his YELL technique.
But King of Cool has to be Usain Bolt.
For 1500?

lol
3:51 for 15 is much slower than 1:51 shape.
I expect a 3:52 before the trials.

According to the purdy table, a 3:51 1500 is about = to 1:51 800
Since Webb is not a pure 800 runner I would say he is in about 3:44 shape right now and should be able to drop about 10 seconds before the trials. I would like to see him on the team but with all the guys out there now he might have a hard time just making the finals.
Whoever thinks he will "easily" contend for a spot on the Oly team is smoking grass.
That said, I really hope he continues to improve and makes the team. Is he possibly thinking about running 800 at the trials?
IMO I don't think that would be a half bad idea.
