anyone else have massive struggles with this 'program?'
I have two computers and I have been unable to upload from my 405cx to garmin connect on either one. Am sweating from fury.

Did you turn on your computer(s)?
I'm literally uploading my 5x1k, 1xmile workout right now. Garmin connect is (or should be) idiot proof.
wtf am I doing wrong? The ant antenna either a) never finds my watch b) finds the watch but can't download anything or c) starts downloading and times out.
Interesting. I recently got the 405cx as well and have not been able to load the information or at least see it on the connect. However, I still own an old 405 and still use it at times, not sure if that is messing it up or if you need two separate accounts?
I've got few runs on the 405cx and registered the product but have not been able to load properly. Is your computer fairly new or old and have you updated the ANT? I thought maybe having two Garmins made one upload and the other not? Maybe something different with the 405cx?
Never had a problem. Just keep the watch close the stick, and it loads fast. Did you download the right program?
I think I downloaded the right program. Brand new computer, windows 7. But on my last computer the thing was spotty too. Only one watch.
The frustrating thing is that one out of 5 times or so, it does work, and it is beautiful.
I'm thinking maybe there is some kind of interference around that computer. I'm going to take the gear to work and see if works on my work 'puter.
You have a 'puter? Well there's your problem right there. It only works on a COMputer. See if you can get yourself one of those. Ask your mom.
mine has trouble loading. the watch itself also sucks. it horrible mismeasures my runs
The site was down tonight for maintenence. Maybe that was it.
It does suck sometimes. What sucks is trying to line up the prong things on the Ant USB stick to the holes under the face of the watch when it's all sweaty after u just got back from a run
I have had many problems with this program. The software is horrible.
The last problem I had turned out to be with runs where the battery must have died. On the history, the total said 0. Finally after deleting them, the data would upload. I love how it gives no error messages of value and won't skip the bad data. The good news is a firmware update fixes this problem. Oh, but I have yet to get it to complete an update. Thanks for taking my money Garmin.
I didn't bother to read this whole article, but thought it might help you with your problem. If not, at least its interesting.

What in the name of all that is holy are you talking about?! What do you have to line up?
I have a 405cx and have never had a problem with loading data to Garmin connect or the Garmin desktop traing center. If my ant agent stick is in the usb port on my laptop, it can link with my watch in the next room. Nothing needs to touch the watch.
I never have a problem uploading (405 not 405cx) but motionbased was a much better and user friendly platform. I liked the smoothing and merging and splitting runs and even the weather info. Garminconnect is bare bones.

Did you contact Garmin? I found updating the software often resolved issue. Just be sure to create a back up of you data on your watch (machine) before wiping out the original software.
I use a Garmin but I never bother with Garmin Connect. Instead I use SportTracks 3, which runs on my computer. I don't need to have my running log on-line.
I actually just tried plugging the ant antenna into a red usb port and it has been working consistently. I don't know what the red is - it seems to be either usb 3.0 or has some additional power.
So I do not hate garmin connect anymore.

Its not Garmin Connect, its either the watch or the antenna. Connect has no control over whether or not the antenna is recieving correctly, or the watch is transmitting correctly.
Plus it into the computer and see if you still have the same problem. I'll bet $5 that you won't.
I had this problem and it tuned out to be my firewall settings. Works fine after I added it to the safe list
