I will never buy Nike shoes again. Not that I would anyway because they are junk.
Dude closes with the phrase "We are Penn State" and the masses applaud. Bottom line is Paterno looked the other way when innocent children were being molested. And this is his hero.
damn shame i have a closet full of nikes. hopefully john fisher is against child rape, at least ill have one pair of kicks to wear
Brooks baby.....ALL day. F Nike!

No doubt Paterno should have done more, which he said himself, but it's a bit strong to say Paterno looked the other way,
I definitely dislike Nike a bit less after seeing him talk. It was very bold, and I'm glad he used this opportunity to speak truthfully about the situation, especially knowing that so many people would hear it.

Calling yourself The Smartest LetsRun Poster is like being the tallest pygmy! Kudos to you!!!
PK & JP are both child abusers who will burn in hell for all eternity for the sins against the teachings of many Gods.
Phil maintains his third world sweatshops to keep a supply of young boys to practice his rhythmic slapping.
Joe Paterno can rot in hell just like you bitches
Phil Knight was who he is – combative and crass. His tirade against the Board of Trustees for firing Paterno was more about him and less about Paterno. Leave it to a man whose Asian sweatshops have established his notoriety to take the moral high ground. He got the afternoon's biggest ovation from it which certainly is what his ego desired.
I heard he's coming out with the "Sandusky" shower shoe.
Phil Knight has not called for a clean sport --- he enables the kenyans and epo-thians to run bizarre times and doesn't do squat to dq them.....Tour de France allows no scum in it's race but Knight feeds the cheaters and no meet wants to know nothin.....
Watched parts of this on the news last night. I understand saying kind words about the man as he's being laid to rest in his grave, but I thought Phil went overboard when he started criticizing the investigation into the raping of children on Joe's turf. He should have just avoided this subject alogether.
Poor Joe. He died six months too late.
Wow! so much hate in America - no wonder it's such a f**ked up place. I Don't care either way for PK or JoePa, but neither are the evil people these posters (who have obviously nothing better to do - and certainly aren't very Christian)claim. Next they'll be saying that Hitler was a better guy.
Regardless of what JoePa may have done (or rather not done) in this this situation, it is rather sad that some seem to put him into the same category as Sandusky. Really, if this is the prevalent attitude toward someone like JoePa, then god help America. What is past is past, Sandusky will likely get off anyway (see OJ Simpson) since the US justice system is a joke, but JP is dead, show a little respect for other things he accomplished along the way. For a country that tolerates more murders (and assasinations by the CIA in the name of security) than almost anywhere else, but presumes to be the conscience of the world, it is truly a hypocritical place on an epic level. People only see the worst in others now, and lives are never put into context, but are judged on one mistake. Hopefully God is more forgiving than you people, or you will all rot in hell as well. Sadly few of you seem to even get that, yet your lives have meaning? Sorry they don't, and both of these two (PK and JP) will have touched, end even helped, more lives than than many of the posters so far will have done, or think that they have done.

I agree. I certainly don't think the media/trustees have vilified Paterno as many are claiming. Paterno's impact on his players and the Penn State community is real, but he also f-ed up. As others have pointed out either in the media or even on these message boards, Paterno was Penn State and he let it get swept under the rug. He choose football and his legacy over those kids. Had he followed up with the allegations at the time it may have been a hit on the program, but it would have been temporary and it would have actually added to the legend of Paterno ("he stood up for the kids, blah, blah...").
As someone who has coached high school track for over 20 years, if those allegations came up about one of my assistants, I would not have let it get brushed aside regardless of what my AD and/or principal did or didn't do. And before anyone responds with "it's easy to say," I have had situations arise in the past and "doing the right thing" has always been the priority. And, as difficult as it can be at the time, your actions will be appreciated by your community.
Is there any proof out there that JoePA was associated with Sandusky after 2002? Any golf games, dinners etc.
I know that in my field of work if I would associate with a known criminal I would be fired....

Actually, your uninformed rant is proof that he was sufficiently vilified by the media.
