Is virginity looked down upon in today's society?

I think it just depends who your friends are in all honesty. Out of my friends im one of the only ones that doesn't have sex, drink or do any form of drugs, I'm 17. Some of my friends kind of look down on me for not but hey I have a job, I'm a better athlete and to be completely honesty i'm better looking then most of my friends so it's whatever.

Sex is highly over-rated anyway. Most people are unhappy with their sex lives whether or not they have it. Most women do not have orgasms from sex. Most men experience sexual dysfunction fairly regularly. Sex is basically a big hoax. It's all fake. You heard it here first. But if it keeps you having something to look forward to in life then by all means, carry on.

Do you people who keep your virginity never date? I don't see how you'd date someone for any significant amount of time without having sex. I suppose if you only dated religious girls?

Wow. I'd love to see some data to back that up.

I'm glad I don't go through life thinking sex is a "hoax" or that it is "the most intimate thing possible" or whatever. It is important but is only one facet to any relationship. It is NOT always intimate and is sometimes extremely so. If intercourse is the pinnacle of intimacy in your relationship, then you've got a LONG marriage ahead of you.

As far as virginity before marriage, I would be worried about marrying a woman who was hung up on perserving her "virginity" like it was receiving Sunday communion. First of all, it's creepy. And second, girls have enough body issues, why institutionalize it with religion IMHO?

Tell a girl upfront about your views of premarital sex. If she has a problem with it you two obviously aren't right for each other.

Don't think it's much of a problem.

Sex is most definitely not over-rated. Many couples have very good sex lives. It's a form of, you know...intimacy.

Virginity is so 1940s

Lost my virginity at 15 and I'm nearly 23 now and I've had sex with around 20 different girls, (all with condoms). That being said the only virgin I know is my friends autistic roommate.

Some people thinking being a virgin means your a loser or something so they don't admit to it..

I highly doubt you only know 1 person that isn't a virgin..

OK, here's the data.

53% of married men report experiencing sexual dysfunction at least once a month. This is as compared to 23% of married men who report experiencing sex at least once a month.

86% of married women report being mostly or completely unsatisfied by the sex provided by their husbands. You might think that this reflects a failure on their husband's part but essentially the same percentage (84%) report being dissatisfied with their lovers. The most common reason cited for maintaining said lovers is simply to stick it to their husbands.
