You mean to say a guy who ran 2:04 is claiming to have run 2:04? That is simply ridiculous! |

I'm pretty sure those are customized Hyperspeeds. |

paula shouldn't run the olympics because there won't be male pacesetters and that will put a serious damper on her "i am a 2:15 girl" claims. come on
+1 :) |

That's right. Hall wore the Hyperspeed 2 with a custom upper. Pic- http://running.competitor.com/2012/01/photos/fast-flats-what-the-trials-qualifiers-will-be-wearing-on-their-feet_45222/attachment/photo-21 |

Why do people refer to Hall as a 2:04 guy, that is like saying some JV kid is a 4 minute miler when he ran 4:58. |
| come at me BRO |

Let's see moron. A guy running a 4:00 mile and a 4:58 mile is a difference of 24%. A guy running a 2:04:00 marathon and a 2:04:58 marathon is a difference of less than 1%. The equivilant for a 4:00 miler would be a guy running 4:01.8. No one is going to have a problem calling him a 4 minute miler. Learn some $hit retard. |

It's not just Hall. It's generally understood that saying someone is, for example, a "2:20 marathoner" means that they are a "2:20:xx marathoner" and not a "<2:20:00 marathoner". That's just the way people talk about marathon times. FWIW, until recently that's also the way Boston Marathon qualifying times were expressed, so that if the qualifying time was "3:10" you would qualify with a 3:10:59, not less than or equal to 3:10, which may have something to do with the way people talk about marathon times. |
Mutai should stay out too. He'll run 2:07 tops, unless there is another hurricane, and that would put a serious damper on his "I'm a 2:03 guy" claim. |

Mutai underperformed in Boston regarding time. He showed in NYC what kind of runner he is. In Berlin or Chicago, he can run 2:03/2:04 and last year in Boston, he could have run sub2. Again, as I mentioned before, no one knew how to run a race with 25mph tailwind and everyone was scared. Mutai is much better than Hall. I would estimate the real delta on about 4 minutes between those two. If he stays injury free, he will run 2:03 again. |

This American team is good enough that they should all take a shot at a medal. Olympic medals in the marathon are often determined by who is able to hold on for two stupid-fast miles in the 16 to 20 mile range. The best thing for all of the Americans to do would be hard 10k races, not the sit-and-kick variety. They need confidence running too fast, too early and still holding on. |
