How did you cure it?
I've had it for over 2.5 years after developing a hamstring tendon tear. I received two PRP injections for the tendinosis (#1 in June 2011, #2 in October 2011). My physical therapist has had me do hamstring eccentric exercises for the past month. I'm not cured at this point, although the stationary bike rides and elliptical machine are getting more tolerable.
I've read that eccentric hamstring exercises can help. Seems the time the tendons are sore doing any stretching kills them, but I'm not sure if this is true when doing the exercises. Thanks for your post. Mine is an on again, off again problem. Now it's a problem.

I tried eccentric exercises for several months in 2009-2010 without seeing any improvement. I spent most of 2010-2011 trying other treatments including:
- myofascial release
- chiropractic adjustments
- deep tissue massages
- Graston Technique
- rolfing (the 10-series and then a few extra sessions)
I finally started to make progress after getting two PRP injections. I'm hoping the eccentric exercises will finish the job over the next few months. Otherwise the doctor who administered the injections said I could make a 3rd appointment.
I had to pay $800 out of pocket for each injection--my insurance calls it an experimental treatment and won't cover it.
Does the PNP injection create some inflammation? How long after the second injection did you notice improvement? Did you ever have a cortisone injection for inflammation and pain? If so, was your relief short lived? Thanks.
I believe the process involves inflammation. My doctor told me to avoid NSAIDs after both injections because they could inhibit the healing process.
I was forced to take a couple months off from all activity after the 2nd PRP injection to deal with a separate hip issue. I noticed some real, permanent improvement once I got back on the stationary bike. The daily bike rides, and now the elliptical machine, feel better than before the 2nd injection.
I had a cortisone injection in May 2010. It did not provide any relief, not even for a short while.
I've been dealing with it for almost two years. Anything over a 4 mile run is a no go. Tried PRP injection, stints of PT with eccentric hamstring strengthening, core work, stretching, etc. Ran across the NY Daily News Running Doc mailbag article and saw he recommended custom insoles for overpronation and hamstring curls with a five lb. weight facedown. Has anyone had any luck with this or any other approach?
