As you point out, lots of coaches can coach Andrews. I guess my point would be that Andrews has been successful under Vig's system (and of course, before Vig, his high school coach) and it will be interesting to see how Watson looks at what Andrews has done under Vig, and trains him this year. Does he adapt the training philosophy?, use his own philosophy? train him the exact same way as Vig? |

My point is that it doesnt matter as much what watson does from the running side as long as it is soound. The problem will be that someone else is in his ear and if that is the case then robbie does not do as well. Watson does not have to be perfect - just sound. The hard part will be between the ears. |

It will be interesting to see how life under Coach Watson will be for the guys at UVA and whether he can coach an 800/1500 guy and have him peak at the right time. Every coach as his own system but the greats can adjust to suit the needs of the athlete.[/quote] From what I’ve heard, Robby is very loyal to his team mates at UVA which ultimately led to his decision to stay. If I heard correctly, Andrews is going to be training under Coach Watson who is training the 1500M athletes. However, I also heard Julie Stackhouse has been chosen to train the 400 and 800 runners for both the men and women which are causing uproar within the team. Has anyone else heard or confirm this? |

Horrible advice. Give Watson a chance next year. If his running is going well (and it is) Andrews needs to keep his coaching consistent on an Olympic year. The is no good arguement to the contrary. You may not like Vig or you may like him, it doesn't matter. Andrews should not change his coach on an olympic year. This is track, the Olympics are by far the biggest thing in the sport. |

How is a two time NCAA champ a marginal athlete? |

Robby has been great when he was coached in both HS and college. He didn't have Vig when he broke Alan Webb's indoor 1000 meter record in HS. I'm certain he can adjust. In addition, he might as well just focus on finishing school right now. With Symmonds, Robinson, and maybe Wheating all gunning for an 800 spot, the 800 will be the hardest mid distance event to make the team and wildly unpredictable. And, he's going to the trials no what, and who's to say his making the team depends on him being coached by Vig. |

Someone said it before, you might be correct but why take the chance. Keep the same coach.... And think about doing the 1500. If the Olympic trial 1500 is a sit and kick race then Andrews wins it. |

What I heard was a bit different, Watson is training all the athletes running 1500M and greater distance which includes Andrews and Johnson etc. If Stackhouse is training all the 400M and 800M runners, I can't imagine Andrews, Kostelec, Roller and Johnson training under Stackhouse. Very strange decision by Fetzer and a bit alarming to me. |

Has Andrews ever run a competitive 1500? Gotta say I also think him staying is a big mistake. But, time will tell. |

I think he ran one and it was like 3:41 or 3:40. Something ridic. Doesn't matter, though, because he will not run well with a new coach. It's too bad. Vig could have qualified him for the team in the 800 or 1500. With his new coach he won't even win the NCAA much less make the Olympic team. |

Stackhouse is coaching anyone that runs only the 800m, and Watson is coaching anyone that runs 1500m and longer. With that I think Kostelac, Roller, and Hobart are the most notable athletes being coached by Stackhouse. Johnson, Andrews, and Todd are being trained by Watson. Interesting that Fetzer decided to split up the middle distance training group. |
