Late 30's and can still run 2:30. If it means anything to her, she could be one heck of a masters runner and do well versus the open field too.

But age is a relentless competitor and you have to accept being slower.

For me it was age 40. My 10K dropped a minute Training hadn't changed. Most of my time trials and intervals were the same.

But in races, I just could not run as fast.

Fans love to watch her, and that's all that matters when handing out appearance fees. She's been great for the sport, and I hope she continues to run for years to come.
Yes I know it

Blame her rabbi. He did not prepare her bagels with that special ingredients: EPO and HGH. She needs to go back to what used to work in the past.

I was really hoping she'd make the team yesterday. Running a 2:30 after having time off due to having a baby and coming back less than a year later has to count for something. My hat is off to her and I hope she continues to kick ass. RESPECT!I'll always be a Deena fan.

Yes, and Linda Somers-Smith was amazing. Meghan Arbogast will be 51 in April and although she "only" ran 2:58 yesterday, she still is the WR holder in her age gp in the 100K and has taken 5th at the 100K Worlds the past two years. This is nothing to sneeze at either.

Hey sub3over40, at give credit to the person who said " Father Time is undefeated". Thank you Charles Barkley![/quote]

It is common knowledge that Mr. Barkley originted that quotes so footnotes were not necessary. I guess you are a bubble boy in the woods raised by wolves so you never use common expressions.

Deena didn't make the olympic team. That's all that matters.

Making the olympics is everything. That's how Stupid Deena sounds like. the olympics is not everything. Too bad she didn't make the team. Just like Deena won't make olympic yuri kano won't make it either. Yuri Kano should've run tokyo instead of Nagoya. She doesn't even deserve to be on the starting line Nagoya. She is wasting everyone's time not getting selected.

Deena will not race again (post houston) because of London Olympics.
What she needs to do is announce her retirement then I'll like her and be her fan.

Let's concede that she's not in her prime. She's not likely to run a 2:19 any time soon.

But why should she "retire?" She's still only in her 30s and she's making a decent income through running and running-related things still. Why not make one or two appearances while she still can? Her run in Houston was pretty good and in the deepest trials field America has seen. I don't understand this call for retirement when record holders simply lose that 1% but can still be professionals.

Deena can still break 2:30 and she can get a huge payday at a marathon this fall. After that, we'll see if her interest continues.

Replying to your own month old post just to further bash Deena. What a dick.
