As for the 2:04... I think you're knocking over a man largely made of straw. And I note that a number of people who mock Hall's 2:04 also have argued that the American marathoners of today are not as good as those of 30 years ago by citing times run in, say, Boston in 75 or 81 or 83. Hall's 2:04 is just as legit as BR's 2:09:55 or Meyer's 2:09:01.
No, but I am willing to say that Hall will never have both an Olympic medal and a major marathon win.
However, I do wish him the best of luck and will support him.
