First time 4 Americans have broken 2:10 in the same race. Will be interesting to see if the next 10 or so run faster than similar places in Boston 83. We could be looking at best performance - in terms of times, of course - by Americans in any race in history. I'm not a big fan of fixating on times, but, this is a good indication that Americans are as fast as at our peak. Of course a couple of other countries have gotten MUCH better, unfortunately... |

You must be pretty happy then since no Kenyan born athletes finished in the top 10 |

Desi and Shalane heading for finish. Kara behind slightly. Hastings way back. |

thanks wejo and rojo for all those that weren't following online via this message board, twitter, flotrack or runners world, I have to tell you that it will probably be a couple hours before we find splits and info for all runners. what i experienced today was a bunch of people who love the sport of running and our American elite runners and did their best to give us a show. thanks to all those who tweeted times, pics and videos (hopefully you don't mind me copying and pasting them into this thread). i'm in my mid-twenties and i want to make sure that i try my best to work towards a video feed for the future. what was definitely possible was taken away because a few men wanted to make a few extra dollars. this is unfair, unAmerican, and unlike a true runner or lover of the sport. men like them should not have the responsibility to lead our sport into the future, because they are doing so freely. here's to RW, flotrack guys, and most of all lets run! |

Hall won the last trials when Meb was 11th or so.

I wonder how fast Meb could run with a hurricane at his back on a downhill course? Sub 2:04? 2:03:30? |

Damn, Hall. Getting done over at 2:09 pace? Pushing the pace and winning this should have been no problem for him. And don't tell me he held back to speed recovery. The guy split a 1:02 for the back half of the 2008 trials, remember? This shows how "real" his 2:04 was. |

PLEASE Rojo and Wejo lead a campaign to FLOOD NBC and USATF with emails proving that they messed up by NOT showing this live. |

Seeing the men's pace go out fast and honest from the start will only help the future of US men's marathoning... I was also sad to see that Ritz did not make the team but he was coming back from a long term injury and it took guts and hard work to run the way he did. He just ran out of time and probably needed another 3 months of training. Everyone should give Meb, Ryan and Abdi their due respect. They all ran a hard race and took their turns up at the front. Its up to the US running community to give them their full support in the coming months to have a respectable showing at the Olympics. Thanks Wejo for all the updates. We appreciate everything you do !!! |

Shalane tucked right behind Desi. Looks like she wants to wait to kick at the finish for the win. |

You are correct. I was thinking Olympics, but totally forgot Rotterdam the year after Jones set the record in Chicago. All this Oly Trials has me off my game. |

If his 2:04:58 wasn't real how do you explain Mutai and Mosop running consistent times after Boston? |
