Chris Clark was 37 when she won the 2000 Trials. Carlos Lopes was 37 when he set a world record and won the 1984 Olympics. Geb has run some fast times at an advanced age. This is not shocking or even unusual in the marathon, as it would be in the sprint events.

Ok, let me get something right. Meb is 1st male to make team, then make it again 8 years later.
Angelo Taylor made it in 2000, missed out in Athens, made it again in 2008.
Times for the top 4?
Why? Because he got fourth at the trials? He can probably still go after 5k/10k, you know something the other three could not do as easily.

Hall was born in Kirkland Washington. I've been to Kirkland Washington. Trust me on this, it is not at 7500' altitude. It might be 7500' feet away from the sea, I'll give you that.
Malmo - How long did Hall live in Kirkland? Idiot!!!
Sorry, but Lopes never broke the world Marathon record. Or any other world record for that matter.
ritz was looking good early on, its a shame, I was pulling for him

I feel so bad for Ritz.
You feel so bad for him because ....?
Because someone forced him to train submerged in water, and sit in a cryo freezer? Someone made him change his running form after a decade of running and forced him into unnecessary injuries?
He made these choices. He has chosen to waste the past few years of his career with a coach that's not right for him.
Today he was beaten by 3 men who have been doing THE RIGHT thing.
We couldn't ask for a better team. granted rhitz is strong..but still not proven at the marathon. Same could be said about abdi.. but meb and hall running well in this race and building for london will mean 2 top 10's in the olympic marathon ... I am surprised that hall did not beat meb.
Kudos to meb. Amazing body of work.
How many low 2:09s is this for Meb? He's got this thing pegged!
Meb 2:09:08 (pr)
Hall 2:09:30
Abdi 2:09:47
Ritz 2:09:55
Anyone have the top 10 or more men's finisher times????

Ritz needs to face reality that he needs to move down, as Webb needs to move up.
So a 5-second PR for Meb and a 5-second PR for Ritz. Nice.
Can anyone tell me split information on Tyler McCandless?

YOU'RE ALL WINNERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
kenyan born athletes take the joy out this for me
I was definitely pulling for Ritz, but good for Abdi. A lot of people (myself included) had pretty much written him off. Glad to see him make another team.
