I'm working on the homepage for tomorrow and it should be no surprise that Ryan Hall is dominating the coverage. USA Today has a big feature on Hall, which focuses on how Hall is relying on his faith to guide him.The article is a must read as it provides some info not seen previously.http://www.usatoday.com/sports/olympics/story/2012-01-11/ryan-hall-olympic-marathon-trials/52504276/1Highlights include Hall talking confidently about the race (his first marathon that he has prepped for at altitude)
Hiw wife Sara Hall says that Hall's decision to leave the Mammoth TC was the best thing that's ever happened to him.
On the move away from Mammoth TC, Hall said that he left Mammoth in part because he felt like Mahon was 'questioning his desire.' 'Questioning his desire' is the words used by USA Today and to me might be misleading as Hall used different words in his quote.
I'm curious as to what people think Hall might be referring to here.
To me, questioning someone's desire and not believing in them are two different things.
Not believing in him might mean being 'realistic' with him and saying, "I don't think you can do xxx." As a coach , it can be hard if say a 4:10 athlete comes up to you and says, "Can I break 4:00?"
If you think the answer is no and aren't prepared and don't respond very nuanced, they sometimes will get mad as "you don't believe in them."
Anyone have thoughts on this?
The SJ Mercury News has a story on Hall as well where Hall has a great quote about having God as his coach.
