Van Alstyne will be making much less than $80,000! Meders was given $220,000 for his 5 assistant coaches and Mark will be top assistant at 60g with no bonuses. UNC was willing to pay for Robert Johnson but when he turned it down and Mick Byrne turned it down they decided to go cheap on XC and track and Field.
Mark is a good coach and my guess is he can have UNC guys in the top 2 at ACC's this fall and top 20 at Nationals. He is a good coach and he will get these guys and girls to run well.
