So Gauson (Butler) is a candidate for the Illinois job, I've heard there is one more. Anyone know who?

Gausen is a great dude! He has been putting in the work at Butler and would do any awesome job at the helm of a program.
I heard that Kevin Sullivan (Sullie) is the leading candidate.

Matt Sparks - Southern Illinois
Does Sparks/Sullie have any international recruiting experience? I know that's big with this job.
SIU has had its fair share of international kids.
But has Illinois had a bunch of international distance kids in recent memory? Hell, if you just get the distance kids from the Chicago suburbs you will be fine.
Sean Carlson officially at ND
So now Sully is being mentioned for Illini position? Do any of you 15:25 5000m male dorks with compression socks pretending to train by running 90 miles a week at 7:00/mile pace understand tht there is more to a job than your gross generalizations and weak attempts to connect the dots on how someone may be interested?
Here is quite an obstacle, Sully is married to Karen Harvey who is a very successful coach at FSU; how will Sully take the Illinois job? It's just like this Furman talk, Gary's wife wants back into coaching; can't have a husband/wife duo at many places. And now Sparks name gets mentioned AGAIN. He either isn't genuinely serious about any of these jobs or is the worlds worst interviewer?
It may seem super easy and any idiot could do it, but coaching is a profession and quality of life, being close to hometown, pay, spouses job, children or not, etc play just a big a role as what you dorks THINK is the pay of the position, scholarship availability, budget, academic requirements, other job duties besides X's and O's.
This is very well put! Perfect!
Not to mention that Sully has a business in Tally...
Whats the word on the ETSU position(s)? heard one assistant was let go then check the website out and looks like the staff has been trimmed down extensively (no GA listed, no distance assistant, no jumps/multis) only the head coach ( who i heard was retired?) and the sprints coach and new throws coach are listed........ Seems like they're all mixed up over there?

You should go with your first premise. He isn't genuinely serious about any of the jobs he has been mentioned for on this and the 2011 Coaching Openings thread.
What exactly has Sparks done that would even make him a good candidate for any of these jobs?
Ohio State men's throws is open...
Where is Mannon going?

UVA and Florida State have definite throws openings currently. Ole Miss and Kentucky may as well. Maybe he is off to one of those.
Illinois would be wise to get someone who could recruit their own state and the US

If you don't know the answer to your question then I would ask how much you follow distance running outside of about 15 programs.
He has led SIU to numerous MVC Men's CC titles. He had a two-time All-American in CC (top 25). He just had a guy just miss the NCAA final in the 1,500m.
Is the only measure of a good coach having a team at the NCAA CC Meet? Is having 6-8-12.6 scholarships in distance running what make you a good coach?
I am hopeful that these questions are not being posed by actual Division I Coaches.
There is no way Sullie goes to Illinois.
A. He owns a running store in Tallahassee that is doing pretty well
B. His wife, Karen Harvey, used to coach at Illinois and didn't leave there on the greatest of terms.
