So, have people actually interviewed on campus for the Ohio State men's job and who made up the interview pool. It seems everyone knows who is talking with other schools, but not who is talking with OSU.

I know that Bethea was obviously a finalist. In addition, one shocking finalist was Butch Reynolds. The guy they really want is Roger Kingdom but there may be some issues behind his previous departure. Clearly they are looking for a big name (besides Ed).
Is the cap on volunteer coaches really 3 per gender? My interpretation of the rule is that it's 3 per gender IF the NCAA has separate men's & women's championship meets.
If I'm missing something, please let me know because our program would love more volunteer coaches!!
The limit is 1 volunteer coach, per gender per sport:
1 volunteer for men's cross country
1 volunteer for men's indoor track
1 volunteer for men's outdoor track
1 volunteer for women's cross country
1 volunteer for women's indoor track
1 volunteer for women's outdoor track

And one volunteer for PV.
Yes, I get that. But it doesn't sound too swift for me to march into our compliance office saying we can have more volunteer coaches because people on letsrun said so.
I don't mean to be an ass, but looked in the manual this morning trying to find out for sure and my interpretation came from 11.7.4.2.3, which is on page 61 of my 2010-2011 manual.
I hear there's an opening at Wisco..
Then maybe you shouldn't be coaching if you cannot read and interpret the manual.
Just take a look at Oregon's coaching staff page to get a good visual picture. Their staff page looks like an army of employees.
Implying Mick Byrne to UNC?
If reading and interpreting the manual was so easy there would be no need for compliance officers with JD's and very few violations. Chill out, dickwad.

i hear this too... not Mick.
To clarify your point, the men's and women's indoor and outdoor and cross country championships are separate events they are just held at the same venue. Therefore you can have one volunteer per sport men's cross, indoor, outdoor, and women's cross, indoor, and outdoor, and then a pole vault volunteer. That would equal 7 volunteers.
Thank you. My rule book is old and as it turns our our compliance officer has been enforcing/interpreting the rule incorrectly all year, which has caused our staff much grief.
A lot of small schools out there with up and coming coaches there that are willing to give somebody a break like they got. Do some research.. Like a previous poster said a lot of coaches had to put in years before they got their break. Got to start somewhere.. If you aren't willing to pay your dues then your in the wrong sport.
Catch on with anybody then start making connections. Thousands of coaching candidates out there. You want to put yourself in front of the rest you got to do something to put yourself out there.

Head women's TnF job is open but what makes you think the distance job is too?
